FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Left Side (as you sit on the bike)
Take the left side mounting block (item 8 – M0378) and assemble it as detailed below and
shown in picture 1.
Fit one M10 washer (item 5) onto one of the M10 x 1.25 x 60mm long cap head bolts (item 6)
and position through the front mounting hole of the metal block (boss machined into rear)
ensuring that the head of the bolt and washer sit inside the recess.
Over the exposed thread of the bolt, place the shortest spacer (item 7 – S0253 – 6mm long).
Take the M10 x 1.25 x 90mm long cap head bolt (item 10) and fit one M10 washer (item 5).
Position this through the rear mounting hole (flat surface on rear) ensuring that the head of the
bolt and washer sit inside the recess.
Over the exposed thread of the bolt, place the shorter of the two larger spacers (item 9 –
S0731 – 32mm long), ensuring that the larger diameter sits against the metal block.
Remove the two 8mm A/F engine/frame mounting bolts on the left side of the bike and offer
up the mounting block assembly as shown in picture 2, before loosely tightening the two M10
cap head bolts.
Ensure this is mounted correctly before tightening the two bolts to the manufacturers
recommended torque settings. Do not over tighten as damage can occur to the bike.
Now fit the left side metal insert (item 4 – SMW0036) into the recess on the mounting block,
before fitting the two M5 x 6mm long countersunk bolts (item 3) and tighten, as shown in
picture 3.
The crash protector can now be fitted. Slide one of the 12mm washers (item 12) onto one M12
x 60mm long hexagon headed bolt (item 13) so the washer sits against head of bolt.
Slide one serrated locking washer (item 11) over the bolt so it sits against the washer just
fitted.
Next slide the bolt with washers through either crash protector (item 2) so head of bolt and
washers goes into counter-bore in bobbin.
Offer the crash protector up to the mounting block and tighten the bolt, as shown in picture 4.
Tighten the bolt until you feel some compression from inside the protector using 19mm socket
and wrench. PLEASE NOTE THE CRASH PROTECTOR MUST BE POSITIONED AS
IN PICTURE 'C' WITH BIGGER END TOWARD FRONT OF BIKE. Turn a little
more so that you feel the compression increase slightly. Then apply a quarter turn. Do not
over tighten as damage can occur to the bike. Do not exceed 40nm of torque.
Right Side (as you sit on the bike)
The right side fits in a similar way to the left side.
Take the right side mounting block (item 16 – M0379) and assemble it as detailed below and
shown in picture 6.
Fit one M10 washer (item 5) onto the remaining M10 x 1.25 x 60mm long cap head bolt (item
6) and position through the front mounting hole of the metal block (boss machined into rear)
ensuring that the head of the bolt and washer sit inside the recess.
Take the M10 x 1.25 x 100mm long cap head bolt (item 14) and fit the remaining M10 washer
(item 5). Position this through the rear mounting hole (flat surface on rear) ensuring that the
head of the bolt and washer sit inside the recess.
Over the exposed thread of the bolt, place the remaining spacer (item 15 – S0732 – 44mm
long), ensuring that the larger diameter sits against the metal block.
Remove the two 8mm A/F engine/frame mounting bolts on the right side of the bike and offer
up the mounting block assembly as shown in picture 7, before loosely tightening the two M10
cap head bolts.
