Precautions when using Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries
FACTS ABOUT LI-PO batteries
Li-Po batteries have an energy density which is four times higher than conventional Ni-Cd or Ni-MH bat-
teries.
These batteries are not as stable as Ni-Cd or Ni-MH batteries. When they become unstable
there is a risk of explosion. When the voltage becomes too high or too low, a cell can ignite and cause the
battery to explode.
TRANSPORT & STORAGE
To avoid dangerous situations, always store and transport the Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries in a fi re-proof case.
When the batteries are outside the case, never leave them unattended. Always store the batteries fully
charged in a secure area and avoid short-circuit.
MANIPULATING
• DO NOT store at temperatures above 45°C (113 F)
• DO NOT charge at temperaturs above 45°C (113F)
• DO NOT expose to temperatures above 60°C (140F)
• DO NOT disassemble, crush, puncture or incinerate
• DO NOT short external contacts or reverse charge
• DO NOT immerse in water
• DO NOT drop or strike
• DO NOT place in microwave oven, standard oven or pressure container
• DO NOT eat the battery
• DISPOSE OF AT AUTHORIZED BATTERY DISPOSAL SITES ONLY
•
DO NOT overcharge
•
Stop fl ying when the power starts to fade
•
DO NOT expose to fi re, heat
•
DO NOT drill, cut, bend or crush
•
Only use appropriate charger
•
Never leave battery unattended while charging
•
Only use the battery for the ZOOM 400 (see required battery)
• Not to be used without adult supervision
CHARGING OF LI-ION & LI-PO
• Always use an appropriate charger
• Check your charging parameters before each charging cycle
• Use a stabilized power supply to power your charger
• Never leave the battery unattended while charging
• Place the battery on a fi re-proof surface while charging
• Clear the area of fl ammable objects within a radius of 1.5m
USE IN MODELS
• Never short-circuit
• Never completely discharge the battery
• Stop fl ying before the power starts to fade
• Regularly check the battery temperature
• Let the battery cool down after fl ight, charge the battery when it is cool (to store or to fl y again)
• When the power output of the charged battery is insuffi cient to lift the helicopter, dispose of the bat-
tery immediately
PROTECH denies any responsability claims or damages caused by use of these batteries.
