d) Inserting the flight battery
The flight battery is not included in delivery. To install the flight battery, proceed as follows:
Remove the canopy. Solder a high-current connector system to the cables of the battery and the speed controller.
Make sure you observe the polarity. Avoid short circuits.
Push the battery into the battery support and secure it using Velcro tape. Also attach a strip of Velcro tape to the bottom
of the battery and the bottom of the battery slide to effectively prevent the flight battery from slipping forward or
backward.
When you have determined the centre of gravity, mark the flight battery and the fuselage using a marker pen (1). Thus,
when you change the flight battery, you do not have to determine the centre of gravity again.
The helicopter is equipped with a safety feature to prevent the motor from running unintentionally. When the battery
connection is established although the transmitter is not switched on or the pitch control stick (fig. 1, pos. 1) has not
been pulled to zero, the control electronics will not start the motor. Only when the transmitter is switched on and the
pitch control stick (fig. 1, pos. 1) is pulled to zero will the control electronics allow normal operation. This is indicated by
an audio signal.
Caution:
The transmitter should be switched on to prevent the motor from starting unintentionally if the safety
feature fails. The pitch control stick (fig. 1, pos. 1) must be pulled to zero so that no acceleration command
is given. Check this before connecting the flight battery by quickly connecting the battery and the helicopter.
Only establish the permanent connection if you are sure that the motor will not start running.
Connect the cables with the flight battery.
e) Setting the centre of gravity
Turn the main rotor so that both rotor blades are parallel to
the longitudinal axis of the helicopter.
Put one finger each under the rods of the auxiliary paddles
of the main rotor and lift the helicopter. The helicopter must
now be in a balanced horizontal position. Otherwise, re-
position the flight battery accordingly (1).
Important! Always determine the centre of gravity with the
canopy attached. Also make sure that the flight battery does
not obstruct any moving parts such as the front retractable
landing gear (2) and that it does not grind against anything
e.g. the motor (3).
After you have determined the exact position of the flight
battery, you should mark the position (1) so that you do not
have to determine the position again later when you reinsert
the battery after recharging it.
