7. Notes on batteries and rechargeable batteries
Although batteries and rechargeable batteries are commonly used nowadays, they pose numerous dangers
and problems. Especially with LiPo/LiIon rechargeable batteries with their high energy content (in comparison
with conventional NiCd or NiMH rechargeable batteries), various regulations must be observed as otherwise
there is danger of explosion and fire.
The helicopter is supplied without rechargeable batteries and without a charger. For safety reasons, we
would still like to provide you with extensive information about batteries and rechargeable batteries. Also
observe the instructions of the battery manufacturer.
a) Transmitter
• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave the batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around openly; there is a risk of them being swallowed by
children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately!
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into fire. There is danger of
explosion!
• Leaky or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause caustic burns if they come into contact with skin.
Therefore, you should use suitable protective gloves.
• Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of fire and explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries
intended for this purpose. Use suitable battery chargers.
• Observe the polarity when inserting batteries or connecting a battery pack (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
• If the device is not used over a long period of time (e.g. during storage), remove the inserted batteries (or rechargeable
batteries) from the remote control to prevent damage from leaking batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Recharge NiMH or NiCd rechargeable batteries about every 3 months, as otherwise they might be fully discharged
due to self-discharge, which can render the rechargeable batteries useless.
• Always replace the entire set of batteries or rechargeable batteries. Do not mix full batteries/rechargeable batteries
with half-full ones. Always use batteries or rechargeable batteries of the same type and manufacturer.
• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries!
The operation of the remote control (transmitter) with rechargeable batteries instead of normal batteries is
possible.
However, the lower voltage (batteries = 1.5 V, rechargeable batteries = 1.2 V) and the lower capacity of
rechargeable batteries reduce operating time. Normally this does not matter, since the operating time of
the transmitter by far exceeds that of the model.
If you use normal batteries in the remote control, we recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries.
When rechargeable batteries are used, the range can be reduced.
