The performance is based on the amount of impact transmission measured in kN (kilo Newton).
** The EN 1621-2:2014 provides 2 levels of protection: level 1 and level 2.
Level 1 protectors shall have an average peak force below 18kN and each single strike shall not ex-
ceed 24kN Level 2 protectors shall have an average peak force below 9kN. and each single strike
shall not exceed 12kN.
Level 2 protectors offers higher performance than Level 1 protectors.
Level 2 protectors offer the highest level specified by the CE standard. Due to the extra level of
protection Level 2 protectors may be heavier, thicker and less ergonomic than the Level 1 protectors.
It is up to responsibility of the rider to choose the correct level of protection according to their needs,
their experience, the performance, skills and the level of risk of crashing.
VI. SELECTING PROTECTORS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE
Select your back protector according to the information sewn into the protector.
SCOTT Sports SA assumes no liability for damages resulting from the use of an
incorrect protector size.
FIT AND POSITIONING OF THE PROTECTOR
To ensure the function of the back protector integrated in the SCOTT Air Free AP12
Pro, it is essential to position the backpack correctly on the body. Please follow the
instructions below to ensure that the backpack is sitting correctly and does not slip.
1. Unfasten all adjustable straps.
2. Place the backpack on your back and position the hip belt so that the centre is locat-
ed on your hip bone (not above and not below!) to ensure that you have sufficient
freedom of movement and the backpack is perfectly positioned.
3. Make sure that the protector is positioned vertically and in the middle of your back.
4. Now close the hip belt, shoulder and chest straps to achieve a comfortable fit.
