SCOTT AIR FREE AP12 PRO
I. INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on purchasing a high-quality SCOTT product. Before you use your
product for the first time, please read the following instructions carefully. For your
own safety, please keep these instructions in a safe place. This product has been spe-
cially designed to offer the best possible protection integrated in a backpack.
II. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
This protector belongs to the "personal protective equipment' (PPE) product cate-
gory and is therefore subject to the legal provisions of European Directive 89/686/
EEC. The CE marking may be affixed only on SCOTT protectors that have undergone
an EC type examination or a certification process by a European notified body. The
protector was type-examination tested by a European notified body which confirms
that all products meet the requirements of Directive 89/686/EEC.
BACK PROTECTOR 
The SCOTT back protector has been developed according the requirements of
the European standard EN 1621-2:2014 "Motorcyclists' protective clothing against
mechanical impact - Part 2: back protectors - requirements and test methods"*
and adapted accordingly by the notified body TÜV SÜD in the test method to the
requirements for skiing and snowboarding.
* According to the Standard EN 1621-2, there are two different levels of protection:
Level 1 and Level 2. The level of protection is calculated based on the transmitted im-
pact force measured in kN (kiloNewtons). Level 1 protectors need to have an average
residual force not exceeding 18 kN/Level 2 protectors should not exceed 9 kN. Level 2
protectors have a higher protective effect in comparison with Level 1 protectors. Level
2 protectors offer the highest protective effect certified according to the EN standard.
The wearer is responsible for selecting the appropriate level of protection according to
his or her needs, experience, skill and the potential risk of accident.
III. INTENDED USE
The protector must be used only as shown in the icons located on the product label
(skiing, snowboarding). The protector must not be used for other sports. In particular,
it must not be used for motor sports.
IV. USE RESTRICTIONS
APPLICATION AREA 
The SCOTT Air Free AP12 Pro has been developed in particular for skiing and snow-
boarding. These sports entail a certain level of risk of accidents. The SCOTT Air Free
AP12 Pro with its integrated back protector has been specially designed to minimize
the risk of injury when practising these sports. The protectors provide protection
purely from impact and do not protect from injuries resulting from compression,
twisting or extreme movements. The protectors provide the limited protection men-
tioned above only in the area protected by the board. SCOTT Sports SA assumes no
liability if the backpack is used without the protector.
IMPROPER USE
Bending or twisting of the protector is regarded as improper use; this could result in
