SET DRILLING DEPTH
Located around the Spindle Feed Shaft is a Depth Stop Collar with a scale (Fig. 6-1).
The collar is capable of turning about the shaft and may be locked in place by a
Locking Screw (Fig. 6-2).
Lower the drill (with the power OFF) so
1.
that it contacts the material and hold in
that position.
Loosen the locking screw and turn the
2.
collar so that the measurement for the
depth of the hole required is in line with
the pointer (Fig. 6-3).
Lock the collar in this position using the locking screw.
3.
CHANGING DRILL SPEED
Before changing the speeds, make sure the machine is switched off and unplugged.
Open the pulley cover (#119).
1.
Loosen the Belt Tension Lock Knobs (#84) on both sides of the Head and
2.
turn the Belt Tension Lever (#96) clockwise. This will bring the Motor
Pulley (#107) towards the Spindle Pulley (#44), removing all tension from
the drive belts (#47 and 116).
Consult the chart below and position the Belts on the Pulleys, according to
3.
the desired drill speed.
When the Belts are correctly positioned, tighten them by turning the Belt
4.
Tension Lever counterclockwise. The tension is correct when the belts
deflect by approximately 1/2 in. at their centers of run when using
reasonable thumb pressure. Lock this position in with the two Belt Tension
Lock Knobs.
5.
You can change the drill speed can by repositioning the belts on the spindle
(A) and the motor (B). Chart 1 shows the belt arrangements for each drill
speed. A full chart is also located on the inside of the pulley cover.
