4.9 HOPPER

The hopper has a minimum load capacity of 1500 litres and a ma-
ximum of load capacity 2000 litres when equipped with a hopper
extension (accessory).
The hopper is equipped with an internal light (L, Fig. 71) to assist
control, cleaning and maintenance operations inside the hopper.
The equipment also includes protection grilles (G, Fig. 71) which
select the impurities that may accidentally get into the hopper, en-
suring a continuous fl ow of product to the doser, and also prevent
direct access to the moving parts of the doser.
IMPORTANT: The protection grilles cannot be removed while
the distribution parts are moving.
After completing the cleaning and maintenance remount the pro-
tective grilles.
Checking the product level inside the hopper
The product level inside the hopper can be checked easily by the
tractor driver through the front window (F, Fig. 71).
In addition, the electric drive system fi tted on the seed drill featu-
res product level control by means of two sensors installed in the
hopper, which indicate two residual product quantity levels, which
are respectively about 70 litres at the fi rst level (S1, Fig. 71) and
6 litres at the second level (S2).
So while working it is important to make sure that you have the
quantity of product required to complete the activity correctly.
4.9.1 HOPPER AND TANK FILLING
Hoppers and tanks can be fi lled by hand or using a lifter with a
capacity of at least 200 kg, which must be regularly approved by
the relative authorities. Remember that weights of more than 25
kg must either be lifted by more than one operator or the above-
mentioned lifter must be used following the instructions included
in the relative use and maintenance manual.
- All fertilizer spreader tank loading and unloading operations
must be carried out with the planting unit at a standstill, on
the ground, with the frame open, with the hand brake on,
with the motor switched off and the starter key removed
from the control panel. Make sure that chemicals are kept
out of harm's way.
- All operations must be carried out by trained staff wearing
suitable protection (overalls, gloves, boots, masks etc) in a
clean, dust-free environment.
Overalls
Gloves
- Load from the outer sides of the machine.
- When fi lling the seed, fertilizer and insecticide hoppers,
ensure that no foreign bodies (string, paper, etc.) enter them.
- The seeding machine can transport chemical substances.
Do not allow children, people, pets to come near the seeding
machine.

USE AND MAINTENANCE

4.10 LOADING PLATFORM

Use of the loading (or hopper inspection Fig. 72) platform is only
consented when the planting unit is at a stand still, the wheels
must be standing on level and stable ground (preferably cement).

4.11 BEFORE STARTING WORK

Before starting the seeding operation grease all parts indicated by
transfer nr. 14 ('GREASE') at page 47 of this leafl et.
Before starting up the machine check that there are no third
parties near it. Third parties are maintenance operators,
operators, etc..

4.12 OPERATION START

For a successful seeding work it is useful to seed on a small
stretch and check that the seeds are regularly distributed in
the ground.
