Installing the Tie-Back Chains to the Concrete Stanchion

WARNING!
Make sure that the tie-back chain is tightly connected to each stanchion. Do NOT use the HLL system if the
tie-back chain is not connected.
Failure to obey this warning can result in serious injury or death.
For tie-back brackets installed perpendicular to the length of the HLL, the tie-back chain connects to the
perpendicular plate off the face of the bracket, see Figure 7. For tie-back brackets installed parallel to the
length of the HLL, the tie-back chain is supported from the hole in the end of the bracket, see Figure 8.
(1)
Position the open end of the pin shackle on the tieback chain to the applicable hole in the tie-back
bracket.
a) Insert bolt through shackle and bracket then install nut and cotter pin.
(2)
Install the shackle and chain connector to the top of the stanchion post in a similar manor, see
Figure 10.
(3)
Put the free end of the tie-back chain through the chain slot on the chain connector.
(4)
Adjust the tie-back chain in the chain slot so the chain is tight when the stanchion is vertical.
(5)
Make sure that the chain link is installed fully in the chain slot.
(6)
Make sure that a minimum of three chain links are on the free end of the tie-back chain that hangs over
the chain slot.
(7)
Install the HLL. Refer to HLL installation instructions.
(8)
After the HLL is installed, make sure that the tie-back chain is tight and the stanchion post is vertical.
