Installation
Concrete Installation: Stanchion Base Installed across Length of the HLL with Rebar/Shear Studs
The MSA standard concrete stanchion can be attached across the length of the HLL on a beam with a
minimum width of 20 in. (51 cm). To attach the concrete stanchion to rebar or shear studs, the diameter of
the rebar or shear studs must be 1/2 to 1 in. (1.3 to 2.5 cm). Spacing for the rebar or shear studs along the
length of the HLL must be 4 in. (10.2 cm) or more. Spacing between the centers of the rebar or shear studs
perpendicular to the length of the HLL must be 8 to 12 in. (20.3 to 30.5 cm). Rebar must extend a minimum
of 4 in. (10.2 cm) above the mounting surface. Shear studs must extend a minimum of 5 in. (12.7 cm) above
the mounting surface to the bottom of the stud head, see Figure 7.
