Wiring of the Cable to the
Control Computer (PC)
GB-18
In the case of the RS 485 interface, install the interface
converter (signal level converter) at the socket on the control
computer if the latter is not already fitted with a separate
RS 485 Interface.
When installing the cabling the between the interface
module on the PC, remember to provide galvanic isolation
for the external power supply also (if used).
h
In the case of the drive controller model DF4-341, double
basic insulation is already provided in accordance with
VDE 0160 and additional galvanic isolation is not neces-
sary.
The DE4-CFG-200 operating software communicates with
the drive controller through the serial interface of the PC.
The protocol used by the software is intended for two
different types of interface: RS 232 (supports one frequency
inverter only) or RS 485 (can address up to 31 frequency
inverters).
When the drive controller is first commissioned, the RS 232
interface is normally used since it is a standard on most PCs
(COM 1 or COM 2).
The following components are required to interconnect the
PC and the interface module:
• Serial interface module (DE4-COM-2X)
• Interface cable (e. g. PS416-ZBK-210 from Moeller)
Attach the 9-pin sub-D male plug of the cable to the inter-
face module and the 9-pin sub-D female plug to the PC.
