Regulator and
Gas Control Valve
Regulator
This reduces gas pressure from a maximum inlet pressure
(when heater is operating) of 13.5 inches W.C. (3.36 kPa)
or a minimum of 7.0 inches W.C. to the pressure required at
the burner.
Gas Control Valve
The valve is operated when power is sent from the ignition
control to the solenoid valve during the ignition phase. The
solenoid stays open providing there is a good earth ground
and the ignition control can monitor burner flame presence
through the local sense ignitor.
Boss 400 DF
Loosen the union located downstream of the fuel selector
valve. Using a 5/32 allen wrench, remove the bracket
screws located at the inlet of the low- pressure regulator at
the heater's gas inlet. See Fig. 21.

1. Remove the nuts /screws securing the gas train to the
support bracket. See Fig. 22.
2. Loosen the union located downstream of the fuel selector
valve.

Gas Pressure Checks

Refer to the following procedure to ensure the
heater is operating at the correct pressure. See
Fig. 21 for Boss 400 DF and Figs. 22 and Fig. 23
for Boss 1000 DF.
a. Using a 3/16 allen wrench, remove the pressure
tap plug at tap at the side of the valve body.
Note: The Boss 1000 DF heater has two solenoid

b. Insert a 1/8 in. fitting at the port and connect
to a low pressure gas gauge. (L.B. White part
number 500-00764)
c. Once the gauge has been installed, start the
heater.
d. With the heater operating, ensure the gauge
registers the burner manifold pressure given on
the heater's data plate.
e. If the gauge is reading lower or higher pres-
sure than what is given on the data plate, the
regulator controlling inlet pressure to the heater
requires adjustment.
f. Once the proper pressure has been established,

tap plugs, tightening securely.
