Service Instructions

GENERAL

■
Heater surfaces are hot for a period of time after the
heater has been shut down.
■
Allow the heater to cool before performing any
service.
■
Failure to follow this warning will result in burns
causing injury.
Fire and Explosion Hazard
■
Do not disassemble or attempt to repair any heater
components or gas train components.
■
All component parts must be replaced if defects are
found.
■
Failure to follow this warning will result in fire or
explosions, causing property damage, injury, or death.

SAFETY CONTROL VALVE and BURNER ORIFICE

1. Remove the clamp screw at valve inlet and spread the
clamp open. See Fig. 9.
2. Disconnect the thermocouple and the tip switch lead.
See Fig. 8.
3. Loosen the pilot tube's compression fitting at the
safety control valve. See Fig. 8.

CONTROL
1. Close the fuel supply valve to the heater before
ser vicing unless necessar y for your ser vice
procedure.
2 Disconnect the gas hose if needed for the service
procedure.
3. For reassembly, reverse the respective service
procedure. Ensure gas connections are tightened
securely.
4. After servicing, start the heater to ensure proper
operation and check for gas leaks.
5. Clean the heater's burner and pilot orifices with
compressed air or a soft, dry rag. Do not use files,
drills, etc., which may enlarge the holes, causing
combustion/ignition problems. Replace the
component if it cannot be cleaned properly.
4. Remove the three screws securing the manifold to the
support plate. See Fig. 8.
5. Remove the valve and manifold assembly from the
heater. Replace or clean parts as needed. See Fig. 9.
