Passive Inputs
Using the Discrete I/O option with passive inputs allows connection of an external intrinsically safe
voltage supply (or a standard power supply with barriers) to power switches or other simple
devices to trigger an input. The external power source must meet the requirements of the hazardous
areas approval and entity values must be compared.
