g) Mounting the Motor
These operating instructions show installation of an electrical motor for illustration. Required accessories
are not included with the kit and must be purchased separately. For notes on recommended motor sizes,
see chapter „Technical Data" at the end of these operating instructions.
The model is suitable for a 2-stroke combustion engine with a displacement of 5 ccm as well. Installation of
a combustion engine is not explained in these operating instructions and must take place according to your
own discretion. If a combustion engine is installed, we recommend thinly sealing the entire motor compartment
against ingressing fuel and oil with 30-minute epoxy resin.
If a combustion engine is installed, the motor carrier
must be installed to the motor mounting plate. Proceed
according to the motor used.
If an electromotor is installed, the motor dome (1) must
be installed first as shown in figure 6a, item 1. To be
able to later set the motor inclination and side pull, as
well as the distance between spinner rear plate and
motor cowl precisely, the motor dome has an assembly
plate that can be adjusted variably (4).
Glue the motor dome (1) to the motor mounting plate
with 5-minute epoxy resin glue so that it is flush with
the top of the motor mounting plate and centred to the
left and right with the balsa triangle (2) glued on.
The balsa triangle pieces must be glued to the motor
dome on all four sides for reinforcement.
To be able to later set the motor inclination and side pull, as well as the
distance between spinner rear plate and motor cowl precisely, we
recommend using washers as a support or using adjustable motor
holders or threaded rods (figure 6a, item 3). Drive-in nuts must be used
for this on the back of the mounting plate or the matching threads must
be drilled into the assembly plate.
Since motor inclination and side pull depend on the performance range
of the motor and the rotor used, these instructions cannot provide any
concrete note in the required settings.
The best values for your model must be found out by flying starting
from a basic setting (1.5° inclination, 1.5° side pull). Please observe
the symbolic illustration in figure 6b.
The general setting is performed by support on washers or shortening
of threaded rods. The fine settings then are made with the variably
adjustable assembly plate, which needs to be firmly glued to the motor
dome at best inclination/side pull/distance of the spinner back plate.
