LATERAL BEAD BREAkING (SP VERSION - OPTIONAL)
- Fully deflate the tyre, removing the valve (fig. 13).
- Position the wheel as shown in fig.13a and bring the bead breaker shoe to the edge of the rim.
- Press the pedal 38 (fig.13a) to operate the bead breaker and detach the bead from the rim.
Repeat this operation on the other side of the wheel.
It may be necessary to break the bead at several points to free it completely.
After detaching the beads, remove the old balancing weights.
- Thoroughly lubricate the sides of the tyre around the entire circumference of the lower and upper
bead to facilitate the demounting and avoid damaging the beads
WARNING
BEFORE STARTING THE DEmOUNTING OPERATION, mAKE SURE THE mACHINE IS SET
WITH THE COLUmN WORKING ARm LATERALLY TILTED AND THE DUAL-POSITION BEAD
BREAKER SUPPORT NOT LOCKED.
1 • Wheel lifting (fig. 14-14a)
- Place the wheel on the lifter, if present (supplied on demand)
- Lift the wheel operating on pedal 29
- Manually lay the wheel onto the turntable (8) and lower the lifter by releasing pedal 29.
- When positioning the wheel on the turntable, also take care to centre the movable centring pin,
placed radially on the turntable, in one of the fixing bolt holes.
2a • Manual clamping the wheel (Standard version) to the self-centering spindle (Fig. 15a)
- Fit the clamping device into the drop centre of the wheel (A).
- Turn the device for correct engagement with the turntable (B).
- By hand, move the centring cone into pos. on the rim by moving the retainers 1 (C).
- Tighten the clamping device by turning the handles 2 clockwise (D).
2b • Clamping the wheel (AL version) to the self-centering spindle (Fig. 15b)
- Fit the clamping device into the drop centre of the wheel (A).
NOTE: The locking pin must be inserted till the end of its possible stroke, avoiding any contact between
cone (2) and rim (1). An incorrect pin positioning could cause breakages or machine malfunctions.
- Manually move the centering cone towards the rim by operating on the retainers 3 (B).
- Turn selector 16 to unlock the wheel (C )
3 • Tyre deflation (fig. 13)
- Operate on the valve to fully deflate the tyre.
4 • Bead breaker positioning (fig. 17-17a)
- Move the bead breaking unit from the rest to its operating position, turning and hooking the upper
bead breaker arm to its carriage.
- Move the disc towards the rim:
a) the horizontal movement is achieved by hand moving the knob of the upper shaft 31;
b) the vertical movement is achieved by operating on the control valve 21.
- Once the desired distance is reached (a gap of 2-3 mm should be left between the edge of the rim
and the bead breaker disc), operate on the control valve 24 to lock any horizontal movement of
the arm.
NB: SImULTANEOUS LOCKING OF BOTH ARmS IS ACHIEVED OPERATING ON THIS CONTROL.
THEREFORE, THE LOWER ARm IS READY FOR BEAD BREAKING, AND THIS POSITION WILL
BE STORED IN THE MACHINE MEMORY UNTIL CONTROL 24 IS UNLOCkED.
