Adjusting steering head rake
Before changing the steering head rake, you must first
remove the steering damper, by unscrewing the fastening
screws (1 and 2). Screw (2) also holds the steering lock
arm (3). If steering head rake is changed, it is necessary to
move steering lock arm backwards when refitting.
Loosen the steering head fastening screw (4).
To change the steering head rake, remove the circlips (6)
and the washers (7) and loosen the two screws (5) on the
right side of the frame.
Using a pin wrench, fully loosen screw (8) and turn the
steering tube eccentric (9) by 180°. To check that the hole
on the eccentric is axially aligned with the through-hole in
the steering tube, an arrow is etched in the upper part of
the eccentric to indicate whether the holes are aligned.
Tighten screw (8) fully. Grease the threads of the screws (5)
with SHELL Retinax HDX2 and tighten to 22 Nm. Refit the
washer (7) and the circlip (6).
Notes
While performing the above, the handlebars should
not be fully turned.
