7. Notes on batteries and rechargeable batteries

• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/-).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, can when in contact with the skin, cause acid burns,
therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Pay attention that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable
batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• If you don't use the product for a longer period (e.g. during storage) remove the inserted batteries/rechargeable
batteries. Old batteries/rechargeable batteries bring about the risk of leakage which will cause damage to the
product; loss of warranty!
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries; only use batteries/rechargeable batteries of
the same type/manufacturer. Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charges (full and half-full
batteries/rechargeable batteries)
• Never mix batteries with rechargeable batteries. Use either batteries or rechargeable batteries.
• For the environmental friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries please refer to the chapter
"Disposal".
The outdoor sensor requires 2 batteries (or rechargeable batteries) of the type AAA/micro.
Please note:
Generally, the operation of the outdoor sensor by rechargeable batteries is possible.
However, the lower voltage of rechargeable batteries (rechargeable battery = 1.2V, battery = 1.5V) and
the lower capacity lead to a lower operating life; a reduction of the radio range may also arise.
Furthermore, rechargeable batteries are more temperature-sensitive than batteries which leads a high
reduction of the service life of the rechargeable batteries in the outdoor sensor at low outside
temperatures.
We therefore recommend to use high-quality alkaline batteries for the outdoor sensor to ensure a long
and safe operation.
