MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION

CAUTION!
- Before performing any cleaning, maintenance or repair operation always wear suitable
clothing and working gloves.
- When the machine or part of it is lifted to carry out maintenance operations, always
remember to use suitable fixing tools such as holders and safety locks.
- When carrying out maintenance operations and/or when the machine is tilted without
safety locks or supports, never leave it unguarded in places where inexperienced people
and children could have easy access to it.
- Protect the environment: carefully dispose of used oils, petrol and any other pollutant
product!
- Effective maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the machine fully efficient.
ENGINE – Follow the instructions outlined in the engine manual. It is necessary to replace the oil
after the first 5 working hours via the oil cap (fig. 2, n. 16). Always use engine oil SAE 30.
Regularly check and clean the air filter, the engine cooling fins, the engine cylinder head and
regularly check the engine oil level to ensure a proper maintenance.
Check the air filter every 4 working hours or more often in very dusty conditions (fig. 2, n. 9) and
frequently check the engine intake grid (fig. 5, A).
GEARBOX—Replace the oil once a year. Use MP 80W90 oil (API GL5 US MIL-L-2105D).
HYDROSTATIC AXLE
The hydrostatic axle does not require any maintenance. The axle is filled in with 20W50 oil. The fill-
in plug is located on the upper part of the hydrostatic axle (fig. 16).

LUBRICATION POINTS

Grease the front wheels pivots (fig. 8, A) every 50 hours. Also grease the handlebar joints and
cables.
CHECKING THE BLADES AND THE ALL PURPOSE FLAIL CARTER
A worn or bad sharpened blade tears off the grass, make sure therefore that the Y-shaped blades
are always well sharpened. Frequently check the blades and replace them if they are worn or
crooked. If the machine vibrates check both the rotor and the blades because too many vibrations
could cause the loosening of their fixing elements. To remove a pair of Y-shaped blades, hold them
tightly wearing working gloves and loosen the screw. Mount a pair of new blades following the
instructions (fig. 18). If one of the two cutting edge of a blade is worn, turn it upside-down to use
the other cutting edge.
IMPORTANT: Firmly tighten the fixing screw. Make sure the blades are free to rotate. Always
replace worn or crooked blades. Never repair them! ALWAYS USE ORIGINAL GRILLO SPARE
PARTS! Frequently check that the screws holding the blades are not worn or damaged.
ENGINE – PTO BELT
The tension of this belt can be adjusted using the adjusting screw (fig. 4, A) located under the
throttle lever cover. When working the spring must be extended at 3 mm (fig. 10, A). To replace the
belt detach the spring (fig. 10, A). If the belt gets out form its seat or twists check the pulley
alignment. Important: when mounting the belt guides, these must be near to the belt but must
never touch it when the belt is tensioned (fig. 10, D).
ENGINE – HYDROSTATIC AXLE BELT
The tension of this belt can be adjusted using the adjusting screw (fig. 4, B) located near to the
dashboard. If the belt gets out form its seat or twists check the pulley alignment.
