(3) Turn the main switch to START position.
●Release the main switch immediately after
the engine starts.
Notes:
1. Extended operation of the starter motor will
run the battery down. Operate the starter
motor for maximum 5 seconds. If the engine does not start, wait for 10
seconds before operating the starter motor again.
2. NEVER operate the starter motor once the engine has started.
3. If the starter motor does not crank, check that the battery terminals are
tightly connected and the battery is fully charged.
Starting engine using the recoil starter
If electric starter will not work, use the recoil starter.
Engage the starter ratchet by pulling the starter rope slowly toward you.
When you feel the ratchet engaged, pull the rope hard and fast (holding the

fire pump in place with your foot).
Do not run engine with recoil starter cover open.
Doing so will result in serious injury.
