The start and end of the charging time are
determined by the electricity supply utility
(EVU) concerned.
Two integrated protective temperature regu-
lators (N4, N5) and a safety thermal cut-out
(F1) prevent the appliance from overheating.
While the protective temperature regulator
switches itself off again automatically, the safety
thermal cut-out must be switched on again
by a qualified installer by pressing the button
located in the middle on the safety thermal
cut-out.
The heat which is stored in this way is then
emitted with the help of a blower fan, and
partially also via the surface of the appliance.
In this situation, the room air is sucked in by
the fan (M1) through the air inlet grille (5)
and blown through the air ducts of the stor-
age blocks (8), causing them to be heated.
Before emerging through the air outlet grille
(4), the air, heated in this way, is mixed with
colder room air via two mixed air flaps, in or-
der to ensure that the emerging air does not
exceed the permitted maximum temperature.
The setting of the mixed air flap, and therefore
of the mixing proportions of the air, is regu-
lated by means of a bi-metallic regulator.
2.2.2Reducing the connected load
By relocating or removing bridges at the con-
nection terminals, the connected load, which
is wired at the factory to be 100%, can be
reduced in conjunction with a load degree
reduction device on the charging regulator by
3 output stages (see below).
The dimensions of the lead cross-section and
the fuses are to be selected in accordance
with the maximum possible load of the appli-
ance.
Reducing the degree of charge
Located on the electronic charge regulator
(A1) is the plug-in bridge X17, with which
the degree of charge of the storage part can
be selected in conjunction with the change-
able connection load to four settings (I, II, II or
IV). A charge degree of 100% (Position I) is
preselected at the factory.
If the plug-in bridge is plugged into another
position, this results in a reduced degree of
charge (the disconnection temperature of the
electronic charge regulator will be reduced).
2.2.3 Electronic charge regulator
Fault behaviour
The charge regulator in the appliance is set at
the factory to „Positive fault behaviour (80%
PS)"; i.e. in the event of defective charge con-
trol (such as failure of the control signal), the
appliance will receive a full charge loading.
It is possible to switch over to „Negative fault
behaviour" (no charging of the storage unit)
by replugging the plug-in bridge X16 to the
„80 % PS" position, if the appliance is con-
nected to a digital charging control unit.
Operation with charge control
The relevant parts of the instructions for
installation and use for the charging control
system are to be followed in this situation.
Control signal
The electronic charging regulator can be con-
nected to different control signals (ED) from
control units, and can therefore be integrated
into existing older systems. At the factory, the
appliance is set for an AC control signal (alter-
nating current voltage signal at the setting at
the terminals „A1 + A2") with 80 % ED.
By replugging the plug-in bridge X16, other
ED signals (68/72, 37/40 %) can be selected.

This is necessary if the appliance is being inte-
grated into an already existing system which
controls the charging with one of the ED sig-
nals mentioned.
Connection to a DC control signal (X3)
If a charge control device with a DC control
signal (direct current voltage 0.91 V - 1.43 V)
is installed in the appliance, the control signal
must be connected to the control terminals
„DC A1/Z1 (positive terminal) and DC A2/
Z2 (negative terminal)" which are covered
over at the factory (ensure that polarity is
correct).
and DC- (A2/Z2)" terminals, since this
would destroy the charging regulator.
Operation and fault display (V4) on the
electronic charging regulator
LED lights up „green" ⇒ No faults
the charging regulator is working perfectly.
LED lights up „red" ⇒ Fault
a) Selector switch for charging (R1) and/or
remote sensor (B1) is defective or not
connected.
b) Plug-in bridge X17 for charge reduction
is missing.
No charging will take place.
LED lights up „orange" ⇒ Fault
(only with discharge regulator fitted):
a) Internal discharge regulator (A2) defec-
tive.
b) Room temperature sensor (B2) defec-
tive or not connected.
No discharging will take place.
c) Selector switch for discharge (R2) is de-
fective or not connected.
The room temperature is regulated to
about 22 ºC.
