Inserting the batteries

Your DTC 500 camera is designed for AA alkaline, lith
ium or nickelmetal hydride (NiMH) batteries. To insert
the batteries, open your camera and insert eight 1.5 Volt
AA batteries into the battery compartment (16), mak
ing sure that the (+/) poles are in the right direction.
Checking the battery status
Switch the DTC 500 into SET UP mode. You can find the
battery status symbol in the upper left of the LCD screen.
Note: the battery life can be prolonged by producing
shorter video segments or photo bursts.

Installing the memory card

To store photos and videos you need a SD memory card.
Your DTC 500 camera can accept memory cards with
up to 16 GB.
Installing the memory card
Insert the memory card into the slot (10) with the print
ed side down. Make sure that the camera is off and that
the SD card is not locked.
Switch your DTC 500 to the SET UP mode (12). If the
DTC 500 emits an acoustic signal, there is either no
memory card inserted, the memory card is not inserted
correctly or it is not compatible. The message "NO SD
CARD" will appear on the LCD screen in red. If you do
not hear an acoustic signal you can proceed with the
setup procedure.
