6.3.5 AV-EP connection for multipole connection
When connection with an IO-Link, also observe the system description
R412018145 (on CD R412018133).
AV-EP pressure regulators for multipole connection are actuated via an M12 con-
nection and work independently from the multipole valve system as a standalone
device. The signals from the multipole valve system are forwarded or passed
through to the next component.

1. Only use tested plugs and cables.
2. Always use a shielded line to connect the integrated M12 plug.
3. Always connect the line shield (FE/pin 5) to both the housing of the integrated
M12 plug and the system FE.
4. Make sure that the 24 V DC power supply for the valves is present in the de-
vice.
5. Connect the signal line on the M12 plug of the AV-EP pressure regulator for
multipole connection.

7 Commissioning and Operation
Commissioning may only be carried out by qualified electrical or pneu-
matic personnel or an instructed person under the direction and su-
pervision of qualified personnel (also see separate sheet "Notes on
Safety" (R412015575), section "Personnel qualifications").
7.1 Step-by-step commissioning
Before commissioning the entire system, check each of the individual functions
step-by-step.
1. Check all fittings and connections.

2. Check the valves for correct assignment of the control signals.

7.1.2 Step 2: Check assignment of the control signals
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Switch on the operating voltage.
3. Check the assignment of the control signals to the valve positions.
4. If the LED is not illuminated, check the assignment of the control signal and
7.1.3 Step 3: Check the pneumatic functions

Undefined system state
Danger of injury if the system is in an undefined state and if the manual over-
rides are not set to Push.
1. Before switching the system on, ensure that it is in a defined state!
2. Set all manual overrides to Push.
3. Make sure that no personnel are within the hazardous zone when the com-
1. Switch on the operating voltage.
The service life of the circuit board will be reduced if the compressed air is
switched off!
If the device is under voltage without any pressure, the pilot valves will be per-
manently switched and heat up the circuit board. The service life will be re-
duced as a result.

2. If AV-EP is assembled: Check the LED displays.
• The UL and UA LEDs must be green before switching on the operating pres-
• The DIAG LED must be off before commissioning.
If the LEDs are in the correct state:

7.2 Operating the manual override
See Fig. 26
The valve control's functional reliability and method of operation can be checked
before commissioning by activating the valve positions using the manual over-
ride instead of the electrical signal. Voltage must not be applied to the valve
when the manual override is used.
Check all fittings and connections for a secure fit and seal before commission-
ing the system.
The yellow LED is illuminated if the valve is being properly controlled.

Before applying compressed air to the system, check the stability of the com-
pressed air connections and make sure that no personnel are within the haz-
ardous zone when the compressed air supply is switched on!
