Extension cords should not be used unless there is no alternative. The use of the wrong extension cord could
cause fire or electrocution. If an extension cord must be used, make sure the pins of its plug are equal in number,
size, and shape to those of the charger plug, that the cable is correctly connected.
Do not use the charger if it has received a hard knock, been dropped, or if it has been otherwise damaged. Take
it to a qualified technician.
Do not disassemble the charger. For repair it should always be handed over to the manufacturer. The wrong
installation could lead to fire or electrocution.
Never place the charger directly on top of the battery being charged.
Never leave the charger on a rug or soft surface. Always place it on a hard surface.
Due to an electronic circuit of the charger, the batteries can be permanently connected without any harm.

IMPORTANT

Never smoke, and never allow the generation of sparks or flames, in the vicinity of battery or charger.
Take special care to ensure that metal tools cannot fall on the battery, since a spark or short circuit could result in
the battery or other electrical component that would cause an explosion. Before working on the battery, remove
all personal effects that are metal and loose fittings from your own.
When buying spare batteries, only use types which are approved by Sunrise Medical. If in doubt, consult your
Sunrise Medical service agent.
3. Tyre pressure: It is important to check inflation pressure regularly, along with the state of wear of the tyres. The
maximum pressure recommended for the front wheels is 36 psi (2.5 bars), while for the rear wheels it is 40 psi (2.7
bars). Caution: never inflate the tyres with a service station air pump. It is recommended that you use a manual pump
or a pressure regulator (manometer).
4. Kerb climber
Climbing kerbs
1. Go forward to the kerb at a low and uniform speed.
2. When the Kerb Climber meets the kerb, the wheelchair should be moving slowly. Low kerbs can
be climbed from a stationery position.
3. Allow the motors sufficient power to raise the front of the chair so that it will be supported on the
kerb. Then release a little more power and increase speed so that the driving wheels climb the kerb
smoothly and without interruption. As far as possible, hold the joystick in forward-drive position.
Descending from kerbs
1. Approach slowly and carefully in reverse until the rear wheels are at the edge.
2. As slowly as possible, descend from the kerb in reverse and on the rear wheels. You will feel more
secure if you lean forward, but do not worry if you are unable to: the wheelchair is extremely stable.
3. The front part of the chair will in turn descend naturally from the kerb as the chair continues away
from it in reverse. lt may help, in a difficult situation, to lean back while the front ascends, and lean
forward while the rear wheels rise. However, too much movement in the seat at the wrong moment
may make the situation worse, for which reason it is better not to change position more than necessary.
E. ADJUSTMENTS
1. Adjustment of the footrest (Fig. 9) To adjust the height of a footrest, remove the securing nut from the screw in
the tube. Remove the screw, set the footrest at the height desired, and replace the screw in the hole corresponding
to that height. Secure the screw with the nut. For these adjustments it is recommended you use a 10 mm. spanner.
Make sure the screw and nut are tightened securely.
2. Adjustment of the armrest
Height adjustment: (Fig. 10):Turn the handle to the left to free the tube of the armrest. Raise as you wish, and then turn
the handle to the right to fix the position.
Width adjustment: (Fig. 11) Loosen the two hexagonal screws in the tube under the armrest with a 10 mm. hexagonal
wrench. Move the armrest in or out until you have the position you want. Tighten the screws securely.
3. Control Adjustment (Fig. 12): You can slide the control along the rail and set it as you wish. To adjust the control
arm rotate the handle, located under the rail to the left. Turn to the right to fix the position.
