Start-up
Please consult the manufacturer's English instruction manual. The operating inst-
ructions are available on the CD provided.
a) Positioning
• Select a suitable installation site. This location should be a place where the digital recorder is
protected from unauthorised access.
• Protect the digital recorder from direct sunlight and heat. The cooling of the digital recorder
and the installed hard drive takes place via air convection. Never cover the digital recorder,
and do not place any other devices or objects on it.
If the digital recorder is for instance installed in a cabinet, a suitable cooling system is requi-
red in order to avoid heat accumulation.
• Keep in mind that the digital recorder must not be exposed to vibrations or agitations, other-
wise the hard drive will be damaged. All previous recordings will be lost.
b) Connection
• Connect the BNC video inputs to your surveillance cameras. The digital recorder is particu-
larly suitable for AHD cameras.
• BNC, VGA or HDMI video outputs are available to connect your surveillance monitor. The
desired monitor resolution can be adjusted in the setup menu at a later stage.
• Connect the USB mouse enclosed to one of the USB ports.
• Connect the digital recorder with the circular low-voltage plug of the power adapter provided.
Plug the mains adapter into a mains socket. The digital recorder will then carry out a self-test
(approx. 10 seconds) and is ready for use after that.
Do not move the digital recorder with the installed hard drive when the latter is in
operation. Movement during operation may cause the write/read heads in the hard
drive to make contact with the magnetic disk. This may not only lead to data loss but
may also damage the hard drive!
The same applies to the 30-second period, the time needed for the magnetic disks
in the hard drive to come to a full stop after the adapter has been disconnected from
the power supply.
c) Accessing the setup menu, entering the password
You must log in as the administrator for all settings to be available when you enter the setup
menu to set the functions.
If you click once using the right mouse button, a menu will appear on the screen. Clicking "Main
Menu" using the left mouse button will open an input window.

d) Formatting the hard disk
On initial start-up you must format the installed hard drive using the digital recorder's setting
menu. This will result in the loss of all data stored on the hard drive.
Without formatting the hard drive, you won't be able to record video footage from the connected
surveillance cameras.
e) Note for 64bit Windows Operating Systems
If you are using a 64bit operating system, install the CMS2000 software (ignore error messa-
ges). In the software directory on your PC you will then find the programs „vcredist_x86.exe"
and „vcredist_x86_C.exe". Run those. After that you can use the CMS2000 software on the
64bit operating system.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product is maintenance-free.
Before cleaning the product, disconnect it from the power supply (unplug the mains plug).
Then, wait for at least 30 seconds until the magnetic disks in the hard drive have come to a
complete stop.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can
cause discolouration. To prevent scratch marks, do not press too strongly on the surface when
cleaning.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable material and do not belong in the household was-
te. Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory
regulations.
