14.3.2
Self-sealing capillary tubes (Order No. 1071)
1.
Fill the capillary tube.
2.
Let the column of blood settle in the direction of the seal.
The blood must touch the seal!
3.
Tap the seal end of the capillary three times on the laboratory table!
This serves to intensify the contact with the seal material and to enhance the sealing process. Only in this
manner the capillaries will be sealed off!
4.
Place the capillary tubes with the lute side facing outwards in the haematocrit rotor and apply the rotor lid and
click into place.
5.
Centrifuge.
6.
Determine the haematocrit value.
14.4
Loading of rotor
•
Load opposite positions equally.
•
Put lid onto rotor and click into place.
•
Place the lid and lightly press down the front edge of the lid.
•
Turn the handle on the front panel to the right.
If the symbol
is illuminated in the rotation display, the lid has been closed properly.
14.5
Determination of the centrifugation time
The following approximation formula is used for the determination of the centrifugation time:
100000
=
time
[min]
RCF
Example:
100000
Given an RCF of 16060
16060
For the calculation of the RCF see chapter "Relative Centrifugal Force (RCF)".
14.6
Reading the haematocrit value
Perform the set-up as follows:
1.
hold the haematocrit rotor.
2.
move the evaluation disk (lid of the haematocrit rotor) until the 100%-line of the evaluation disk is in line with the
upper margin of the liquid column.
3.
Read the haematocrit value at the upper margin of the erythrocyte column.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 until all capillaries have been analysed.
15
Emergency release
The lid cannot be opened in the event of a power failure. An emergency release has to be executed by hand.
For emergency release disconnect the centrifuge from the mains.
Open the lid only during rotor standstill.
Please turn to the rear side of the cover sheet.
•
Position the centrifuge on the table sufficiently far forward so that the hole (Fig. 1, A) for the emergency release
on the base of the casing can be reached.
•
Insert the hexagonal pin driver into this hole, push it upwards and at the same time rotate the lid-lock handle to
the left.
•
Open the lid.
≈
7
min
of centrifugation time.
