The table gives maximum sound emission values for EVM
motor-driven pumps with AEG motors.
* Sound pressure level - Mean value of measurements
taken one metre from the pump. Tolerance ± 2.5 dB.
** Sound power level. Tolerance ± 2.5 dB.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRODUCT IMPROVE-
MENTS AND UPDATING.
6. PREPARING FOR USE
FREE THE PUMP FROM THE PACKAGING AND LIFT
IT AND LOWER IT WITH SUITABLE LIFTING GEAR IN
COMPLIANCE WITH SAFETY RULES.
NOTE THAT THE MOTOR'S LIFTING HOOKS ARE NOT
SUITABLE FOR LIFTING THE MOTOR-DRIVEN PUMP.
6.1. COUPLING TO THE MOTOR
The motors to be coupled to the EVM pumps must meet IEC
standards and must have the preload spring positioned as
illustrated in fi g. 4.
Motor/pump coupling operations must be carried out with
the motor disconnected from the power supply.
Since it is best to perform a trial run following coupling to
check operation, if there is enough room, we suggest you
perform coupling once the pump has been fastened down in
its working position and connected to the suction and deliv-
ery lines. Otherwise the trial run can be performed with fl uid
piping connected in a makeshift manner.
6.1.1. PUMPS WITH NO BEARING ON THE COUPLING:
a) Position the pump upright;
b) Remove the two coupling covers from the motor mount
(4 screws);
c) Unscrew the fastening screws and remove the coupling;
d) Raise the motor and move it into an upright position with
the shaft facing down and place it on top of the pump.
Make sure the key on the motor shaft and keyway in the
pump shaft are aligned;
e) Insert the 4 motor fastening screws and fasten them
equally tightly;
f) Position the two halves of the coupling, lining the key-
ways up with the keys on the pump and motor shafts.
Insert the 4 screws fastening the coupling and tighten
them slightly;

g) Lever the motor mount and coupling using two screwdriv-
ers so that you can push the coupling towards the motor
as far as it will go. At the same time, fasten the coupling
fastening screws equally tightly;
h) Try turning the coupling a couple of times, making sure it
is fastened correctly to the motor;
i) Connect the delivery and suction lines, even with make-
shift connections, and open the delivery valve;
j) Fill the pump with water as described in chap. 7;
k) Refi t the two coupling covers (4 screws);
l) Connect the motor to the electricity line as described in
chap. 6.3;
m) Run the pump for a few minutes;
n) Make sure noise and vibration levels are normal;
o) Stop the pump, cutting off the motor's power supply;
p) Remove the two coupling covers from the motor mount
(4 screws);
q) Check the inside of the mount for signs of water. If the
mechanical seal is leaking, reposition the coupling (Ref.
i) once you have emptied the pump;
r) Refi t the two coupling covers (4 screws).
s) Disconnect the suction and delivery lines if they have
been connected in a makeshift manner;
t) Pump is ready for installation.
6.1.2. PUMPS WITH BEARING ON THE COUPLING:
a) Position the pump upright;
b) Raise the motor and move it into an upright position with
the shaft facing down and place it on top of the pump.
Take care when inserting the shaft in the coupling: the
key must be matched up with the relevant coupling
keyway. If this is not the case, turn the motor coupling
slowly;
c) With the motor positioned on top of the pump and the
motor shaft inserted correctly in the coupling, turn the
motor so that the holes for the screws are lined up;
d) Insert the motor fastening screws and fasten them
equally tightly.
e) Connect the delivery and suction lines, even with make-
shift connections, and open the delivery valve;
f) Fill the pump with water as described in chap. 7 - where
necessary, remove the 2 coupling covers;
g) Refi t the two coupling covers (4 screws) if you removed
them during the last point;
h) Connect the motor to the electricity line as described in
chap. 6.3;
i) Run the pump for a few minutes;
j) Make sure noise and vibration levels are normal;
k) Pump is ready for installation.
6.2. INSTALLATION
See tips given in sect. 7.1 in part 1 of the manual.
6.2.1. INSTALLATION SITE
WARNING!
INSTALL THE PUMP IN A VENTILATED AREA PRO-
TECTED FROM THE ELEMENTS (RAIN, FROST.....).
Bear in mind the ambient temperature and altitude ranges
given in chap. 12.1.
Place the pump away from walls, the ceiling or other obsta-
cles so that the pump can be fastened, operated and serv-
iced safely.
The pump must be installed upright only.
