Replacing the saw chain
Danger: The saw chain is an essential part of a chain saw. A damaged saw chain is not only causing poor
cutting results. It can also cause a serious personal injury. If you have any doubts about the chain quality/
performance, replace it or consult a qualified personnel.
• With using time the saw chain extends. Replace it, when it is not possible to tighten it correctly (Ú Tensioning the
saw chain).
• With increasing sharpening procedures, the teeth become shorter and lower. Replace the saw chain, when the
longer dimension of the teeth becomes shorter than 5 mm (Ú Fig. 25).
• Replace the saw chain, when the cutter reaches the height of the next chain link (Ú Fig. 25).
• Inspect the guide bar. If the guide bar is unevenly used, it is caused by a damaged saw chain. In this case, replace
the saw chain.
c) Guide bar maintenance
After each use of the product:
1. Dismount the guide bar and remove the saw chain.
2. Clean the guide bar.
3. Inspect the guide bar for its wear.
- If the guide bar slot is widened, it cannot guide the saw
chain correctly. In this case, the guide bar has to be
replaced.
An uneven bar wear causes the most guide bar
problems. An incorrect sharpening of the saw chain
often causes this.
4. Fill 2 drops of special saw chain oil through the lubrication
holes (27) on both sides of the guide bar.
