12. Maintenance and servicing

Before any maintenance, always disconnect the product from the mains supply. For preventing an
unintentional reconnection by a third person, also disconnect the product directly from the extension cord.
Warning! Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement
parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. To ensure safety and
reliability, in case of malfunction, repairs are to be conducted by qualified personnel only.
Always wear gloves when handling the chain.
• Regularly check for obvious defects such as loose fixings, and worn or damaged components.
• Check that covers and guards are undamaged and correctly fitted. Carry out necessary maintenance or repairs
before each use.
a) Cleaning
Cleaning the housing
Under no circumstances use aggressive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions to
clean the housing of the product.
• Do not emerge the product into water or any liquids.
• Use a damp, lint-free cloth to clean the housing of the product.
• Clean the ventilation slots on the bottom and at the side cover of the engine with a soft brush. Clogged ventilation
slots might cause the engine to overheat.
• Wipe the surface with a dry cloth afterwards.
Cleaning the saw chain
• Use a soft plastic brush to clean the saw chain from dirt.
• Use a resin solvent (not provided) to clean the saw chain. Read the resin solvent manufacturer's instructions before
proceeding.
• To protect the saw chain from rust and oxidation, lubricate it with a special saw chain oil (not provided).
Cleaning the guide bar
1. Dismount the guide bar and remove the saw chain.
2. Remove any dirt accumulated inside the guide bar slot
using the putty knife (not provided) (Ú Fig. 22).
3. Use a damp, lint-free cloth to clean the surface.
4. Wipe the surface with a dry cloth afterwards.
