Safety instructions and information
Target group
The installation may only be carried out by technical experts.
Qualifi ed and trained individuals carrying out installation must have
• knowledge of general safety and accident prevention regulations as amended,
• knowledge of how to use safety equipment,
• knowledge of how to use hand tools and electric tools,
• knowledge of the relevant standards and guidelines for laying pipes/cables and
for backfi lling utility trenches, as amended,
• knowledge of the regulations and installation guidelines of the supply company
as amended,
• knowledge of the waterproof concrete directive and building waterproofi ng
standards as amended.
General information and intended use
In line with their intended use, our products have been developed solely for instal-
lation in buildings made of state-of-the-art materials. Insofar as no express written
confi rmation has been provided by us, we do not accept any liability for any other
purposes or purposes going beyond the above.
The standard press seal is designed for sealing pipes to be newly installed in core drill
holes or pipe sleeves. The HSN/HSD/HSDD press seals are suitable for the installation
and insertion of 1 pipe with outer diameter 32 - 450 mm.
and insertion of 1 pipe with outer diameter 32 - 450 mm.
HSD/HSDD press seals are tested by FHRK according to current test guidelines
and bear the seal "FHRK Quality".
The WRD sealing set allows corrugated cable ducts, as well as local and district heating
pipes, to be fed into buildings through walls in a pressurized water-tight manner. The
patented ring clips in the corrugated section prevent deformations and damage to
the corrugated pipe and at the same time keep the closing pressure of the press seal
uniform and constant. The insulation ring included in the scope of supply centres the
corrugated pipe on the inside of the building and neatly fi nishes the wall connection.
Safety
This section provides an overview of all the main safety aspects for optimum
protection of personnel and a safe installation process.
If there is a failure to observe the instructions and safety information set out here,
this may result in signifi cant hazards.
Press seal assembly and sealing set assembly must comply with the relevant
professional association regulations, VDE provisions, national safety and accident
prevention regulations as well as company regulations (work and procedural
instructions).
The fi tter must wear the relevant protective clothing.
Only intact components may be installed.
The following instructions are to be observed prior to assem-
bly of the press seal and the sealing set:
bly of the press seal and the sealing set:
WARNING!
Risk of injury in the event of improper installation!
Improper installation can result in signifi cant bodily harm and property damage.
• The nationally applicable laying and fi lling regulations for pipes and cables are
to be observed at all times.
• Seal the underground and pipe substructure well prior to laying pipes/cables
so that the latter cannot subside.
IMPORTANT!
No sealing due to incorrect installation!
Improper installation can result in damage.
• Pressed seals are not fi xed points or bearings and, as such, are unsuitable for
sustaining mechanical forces.
• For the one-sided installation of the press seal and the sealing set WRD into the
core drilling, carry out the sealing on the outside of building.
• If installation is correct, it will not be necessary to tighten up the screws.
• Any anticipated reductions must be compensated for by the installation of
centring guides and/or spacers in the liners or core drillings.
• The HSN type (20 mm sealing width) must always be secured so that it
cannot fall/slide out.
• The HSD/HSDD press seals have to be secured to ensure they do not slide out
when permanently exposed to dynamic pressure.
• Prior to installing the press seal, any existing breaks or blowholes in the cored
hole have to be repaired.
• Ensure that the medium pipe is centred and horizontal in the core drilling/
wall sleeve.
• If the press seal is installed in an exposed duct, then the duct wall must be
stabilised with a clamping strap at the location of the press seal.
• Do not lubricate the outer sealing surface of the press seal with lubrication.
• If sealing is to be carried out on the outside of the building, a check must be
6
carried out before the trench is fi lled and all laying and connection is completed
to see whether the rubber in all inspection openings can be seen and felt. If this
is not the case or it is no longer possible to access the inspection openings, the
torque must be checked and if necessary tightened.

• Deformed or damaged corrugated cable ducts are not suitable for sealing.
These must be cut off or replaced.
• No cleaning agents containing solvent may be used to clean the cable seal. We
recommend using cable cleaner KR M.T.X.
