Servicing the LS04/LS04 SW
Solvents and aggressive cleaning agents
The surfaces and seals could be damaged by aggressive solvents and cleaning
agents.
O Never use solvents or strong detergents.
O Regularly clean the device with a damp cloth. Use only water or a mild detergent.
Maintaining the LS04/LS04 SW
The valve system is maintenance-free.
O However, observe any stipulated maintenance intervals and requirements for the
entire system.
8
Disassembly and Exchange
Danger of burns caused by hot solenoid coils!
The solenoid coils can become very hot during operation.
O Let the system cool off before disassembling it.
O Do not touch the system during operation.
Voltage and high pressure
Danger of injury from electric shocks and sudden pressure drops.
O Make sure the system is not under pressure or voltage before performing the
following tasks:
– Removing or assembling tubing lines
– Disassembling the system
– Exchanging individual components
20
Disassembling the LS04/LS04 SW from the hat rail
1. Make sure the system is not under pressure or voltage before disassembly.
2. Loosen all connections.
3. Loosen both of the screws (1).
4. Tilt the VS up and lift it out towards the front (2).
Disassembling the LS04/LS04 SW from a flat surface
1. Make sure the system is not under pressure or voltage before disassembly.
2. Loosen all the electrical and pneumatic connections.
3. Loosen the screws on the left and right end plates of the VS.
4. Carefully lift the VS away from the flat surface.
9
Disposal
O Comply with national regulations regarding disposal.
10 Extension and Conversion
Voltage and high pressure
Danger of injury from electric shocks and sudden pressure drops.
O Make sure the system is not under pressure or voltage before performing the
following tasks:
– Removing or connecting plugs
– Disassembling the system
– Exchanging individual components
Exchanging plate valves, occupying reserve positions
W
To occupy reserve positions or exchange a plate valve at a later point, the
LS04/LS04 SW must be removed from the hat rail or flat surface.
W
Also observe the information in "Installation order of plate valves for the
LS04".

Occupying a reserve position with a plate valve or supply plate
1 Left end plate

3 Hex socket-head screws (EN ISO

4 Right end plate
5 Plate valves
To exchange a plate valve or occupy a reserve position
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Disassemble the VS from the hat rail/flat surface.
3. Loosen both of the hex socket-head screws (3) of the tie rod mounting on the right
end plate (4) by several turns.
4. Pull apart the plate valves (5) on the right and left of the blanking plate (2) of the
reserve position or the plate valve that is to be exchanged, until the centering pin
on the blanking plate, or the plate valve, is exposed.
5. Loosen the blanking plate or plate valve by first lifting the plate at the lower tie
rod (7) and then tilting towards the top around the upper tie rod (6).
6. Remove the blanking plate or plate valve that was tilted towards the top from the
upper tie rod (6).
7. Insert the new plate valve (11) in the free valve position by first suspending the
upper tie rod guide (9) on the upper tie rod (6) and then tilting the plate valve (11)
towards the rear until the lower tie rod guide (10) is inserted in the lower tie rod
(7) and the electrical plugs are in the cable channel segment (8).
Make sure the seals have been correctly inserted and that the electrical valve
contacts are straight.
8. Press on the right end plate (4) and screw in both of the hex socket-head screws
(3) in the tie rod mounting: tightening torque 1.3 + 0.2 Nm (0.96 + 0.15 ft-lb).
Make sure that the cable channel segments and plate valves are correctly
positioned.
9. Bring the valve's manual override to the Push position (normal position) (see
"Operating the manual override").
10.Reestablish the pneumatic connections (see "Connecting the pneumatics").
11.Establish the electrical connections and wire the connection pins for newly
assembled valves (see "LS04 electrical connection").
12.Check all connections once more and start the system again.
Installing supply/separation plates
The following options are possible if you want to use a supply plate or separation
plate:
W
Remove two valve positions (you will then lose these two valve positions)
W
Extend the VS with an extension kit for 2 valve positions (see "Installing plate
valves and supply plates")
Reserve positions that are occupied by blanking plates can only be replaced
with plate valves and not with supply or separation plates!
Removing two valve positions
O Remove two adjacent plate valves (5,
the supply plate as described in step 7.
Installing plate valves
Installing plate valves in the LS04
The LS04 can be extended by a maximum of 2 additional valve positions by installing
one or more plate valves
(1 plate valve = 1 valve position). The maximum number and type of valve positions
that can be occupied is stipulated by the ordered connection configuration. You can
select from a total of 10 connection variants (see the online catalog and Internet
configurator from AVENTICS GmbH).
The configured cable loop in your LS04 contains a maximum of two reserve
plugs to connect two plate valves. The reserve plugs must be configured.
The VS must be reconfigured for each extension beyond this.
The following table shows the number of available and configurable reserve plugs
depending on the number of valve positions in the cable loop.
