W
Ensure that ignition protection for the device is only installed in the
appropriate areas/categories! Always observe the nationally valid
assembly guidelines during installation (e.g. EN 60079-14, EN 1127-1).
W
In zone 1 (category 2G) and zone 21 (category 2D), as well as in zone 2
(category 3G) and zone 22 (category 3D), the electrical circuits for the
solenoid coils may only be commissioned by trained personnel. The
information specified on the rating plate must be complied with.
W
The devices are designed for protection class IP65 and require further
protection if used under adverse ambient conditions.
W
Avoid electrostatic charges. Make sure that the device and all conductive
metal parts are electrically connected and grounded.
W
Operation of the solenoid coils is only permissible in a fully assembled
housing free of defects. Operation is prohibited in a damaged housing.
W
After removing the packaging, make sure that no contamination enters
the system.
W
Before assembling the system, make sure that the piping and valve
housing are free of contamination.
W
A minimum distance is not required for block assembly.
W
Any mounting orientation is permitted, but top mounting of the magnet
system is preferred.
W
The integrated connection cable on the solenoid coils (wire ends are
suitable for screw/clamp connections) can be connected in secure
areas or in explosion-proof areas to approved explosion-proof
equipment (e.g. "Ex e" increased safety ignition protection for terminal
box acc. to EN 60079-7). The cable must be correctly installed.
W
Prevent sharp bending of the connection cables and strands. To avoid
short circuits and interruptions, maintain a bending radius > 40 mm
while installing the cables.
W
Before commissioning, make sure that the entire machine or system
complies with the EMC directive.
W
Observe the relevant Ex guidelines for installation and maintenance,
especially EN 60079-14. The installation of electric devices must be
carried out in accordance with applicable national regulations (in
Germany: VDE 0100) and performed or supervised by an electrical
specialist.
W
For all direct current solenoids, the maximum permissible ripple is 20%.
W
Assembly work in Ex areas may only be carried out in accordance with
the local installation regulations. Observe the following guidelines:
– Assembly and maintenance tasks must only be performed in non-Ex
areas. A fire permit is required.
– Additional safety precautions are necessary if there is a probability of
hydrogen sulfide, ethylene oxide and/or carbon monoxide. These
substances have a very low ignition energy!
– Where any potential for explosion exists, only use non-sparking tools
for these substances and all substances in explosion group IIC!
Assembling and connecting the solenoid coils on a
base valve
1. Remove the mounting nut from the armature system of the base valve.
2. Slide the solenoid coils onto the armature guide tube of the base valve.
The coil can be adjusted in 45° staggered increments and must be
completely engaged.
OWhile installing the system, make sure that the O-ring on the
Note:
flange or threaded coupling is not damaged.
3. Tighten the solenoid coil back onto the armature guide tube of the base
valve.
The tightening torque for the mounting nut is 0.5 Nm.
4. Correctly connect the cable to the supply voltage.
OWhen tightening the connection strands, make sure that the
Note:
wire ends are inserted completely into the connection clamp.
Connecting a short circuit fuse
Danger of explosion!
A short circuit can result in an explosion in explosive areas.
O Connect a short circuit fuse upstream of each solenoid coil, observing
the rated current values (max. triple rated current according to DIN
41571 or IEC 60127-2-1.
- or -
Mount a motor protection switch with short-circuit and thermal
release in the respective supply device or separately connected (adjust
to rated current).
O Make sure that the rated fuse voltage is equal to or greater than the
given nominal voltage of the solenoid coils.

Disassembly/Exchange

Disassembling the 30MM-ATEX solenoid coils
System is under high pressure!
Danger of injury and system damage from uncontrolled system
operating states.
O Make sure that the system component the 30MM-ATEX solenoid coils
are installed in is not under pressure or voltage before beginning
disassembly.
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Loosen and remove all connections.
3. Remove the mounting nut from the armature system of the base valve.
4. Disconnect the solenoid coils from the armature guide tube of the base
valve.
8
Operation
Observe the following guidelines for operation:
W
Only air generated and prepared outside the Ex area, which does not
corrode the system or its sealing materials, is permitted for use.
W
Avoid contact between liquid or corrosive media and the device.
W
Do not place any deflection or torsion loads on the system.
W
To avoid short circuits and interruptions, prevent sharp bending in the
connection cables and strands.
W
Accessory parts for use in explosive areas must comply with the
requirements stipulated in the European directives and national laws.
W
Comply with the ambient conditions specified in the operating
instructions at all times.
W
The solenoid coils may only be used in normal industrial settings.
Always consult the manufacturer if aggressive substances are present
in the operating atmosphere!
W
The operator must take precautions to protect against lightening.

If Malfunctions Occur

O Check the line connections, operating voltage, and working pressure if
malfunctions occur.
If this does not remedy the malfunction:
1. Make sure that the relevant system component is not under pressure.
2. Disconnect the system part from the supply voltage.
3. Exchange the device.
Important troubleshooting information
W
Defective Ex devices may not be repaired and must be exchanged!
W
Modifications to devices operated in explosive areas are not permitted!
Repairs may only be carried out by qualified and authorized personnel.

10 Service and Maintenance

Observe the following points:
W
Maintenance measures may only be performed by personnel with equal
or comparable qualification acc. to TRBS 1203.
