Air filter

Basic information
The filter has an extremely long service
life.
Do not dismantle the filter cover and fit a
new air filter unless there is a noticeable
loss of engine power.
Fouled air filters will impair engine
performance, increase fuel consumption
and make the machine more difficult to
start.
Replacing the air filter
Only if there is a noticeable loss of
engine power

Undo the screws (1)

Pull off the filter cover (2)

Remove coarse dirt from inside the
N
filter cover and around the filter (3)
The filter (3) filters the air through
pleated paper.
Remove and inspect the filter (3) –
N
replace it if the paper or filter frame
are fouled or damaged
Unpack a new filter
N
Do not bend or crease the filter before
insertion, otherwise it may become
damaged – do not use damaged filters!
Insert filter in filter housing

Attach filter cover
N
Only high-quality air filters should be
used, to protect the engine against
ingress of abrasive dust.
STIHL recommends the use of genuine
STIHL air filters. The high quality of
these parts will ensure trouble free
operation, a long service life for the
engine and very long filter life.
