e) Do not use a damaged or modified battery. Dam-
aged or modified batteries can behave unpredictably
and cause fire, explosion or injury.
f) Do not expose a battery to fire or excessive tem-
peratures. Fire or temperatures above 130°C may
cause an explosion.
g) Follow all charging instructions and never charge
the battery or rechargeable tool outside the tem-
perature range specified in the operating manual.
Incorrect charging or charging outside the approved
temperature range can destroy the battery and in-
crease the risk of fire.
6) Service
a) Only have your power tool repaired by qualified
specialists and only with original spare parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is main-
tained.
b) Never attempt to service damaged batteries. Any
type of battery maintenance shall be carried out only
by the manufacturer or an authorised customer ser-
vice centre.
5.1
General safety instructions
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use com-
mon sense when operating a power tool. Do not
use a power tool while you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A mo-
ment of inattention while operating power tools may
result in serious personal injury.
b) National regulations may restrict the use of the prod-
uct.
c) Take regular breaks and move your hands to promote
circulation.
d) Always hold the product tight with both hands
during work. Make sure that you have a secure foot-
ing.
5.2
Safety instructions for grass
trimmers and brush cutters
5.2.1
Instructions
a) Read the entire operating manual before using the
product.
b) The product shall not be operated by persons (includ-
ing children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities or who have inadequate experience or knowl-
edge.
c) Note that the operator or user is responsible for acci-
dents or hazards to other people or their property.
5.2.2
Preparation
a) Check the power supply and the extension cable for
signs of damage or ageing before use. If a cable is
damaged during use, disconnect the mains connec-
tion cable from the mains immediately. DO NOT
TOUCH THE CABLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DISCON-
NECTED FROM THE MAINS. Do not use the product
if the cable is damaged or tattered.
b) Check the covers and protective devices for damage
and correct seating. Replace them if necessary.
c) Never operate the product while people, especially
children, or animals are nearby.

5.2.3
a) Always wear safety goggles.
b) Do not use the product barefoot or with sandals. Wear
sturdy footwear and long trousers.
c) Do not use the product in a thunderstorm - Danger of
lightning strike!
d) Only work in daylight or with good, artificial lighting.
e) Never operate the product with defective Protective
devices or without safety devices.
f) Do not put your hands or feet in the area of the rotat-
ing tool before or after switching on.
g) If a foreign object is hit, switch off the product immedi-
ately and remove the battery. Inspect the product for
damage and perform the required repairs before start-
ing again and working with the product. If the product
begins to experience exceptionally strong vibrations,
switch it off immediately and check it.
h) Ventilation openings must always be free.
5.2.4
a) Disconnect the product from the power supply (i.e. re-
move the removable batteries) before carrying out
maintenance or cleaning work.
b) Do not use accessories that are not recommended
by the manufacturer. This can lead to electric shock
or fire.
c) Check the product regularly for damage.
d) Maintain and clean the product at regular intervals.
e) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the pow-
er tool or these instructions to operate the power
tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of un-
trained users.
5.3
Safety instructions for hedge
trimmers
a) Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather con-
ditions, especially when there is a risk of light-
ning. This decreases the risk of being struck by light-
ning.
b) Keep all power cords and cables away from cut-
ting area. Power cords or cables may be hidden in
hedges or bushes and can be accidentally cut by the
blade.
c) Hold the hedge trimmer by insulated gripping sur-
faces only, because the blade may contact hidden
wiring or its own cord. Blades contacting a "live" wire
may make exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer
"live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
d) Keep all parts of the body away from the blade. Do
not remove cut material or hold material to be cut
when blades are moving. Blades continue to move
after the switch is turned off. A moment of inattention
while operating the hedge trimmer may result in seri-
ous personal injury.
e) Make sure all switches are off and the battery is
removed before removing trapped clippings or
servicing the product. Unexpected actuation of the
hedge trimmer while clearing jammed material or ser-
vicing may result in serious personal injury.
