Rotate the cutterhead by hand until the knives are not visible.

Raise the outfeed table until it' s about 1/16 in. above the cutterhead.
5.
Place a board against the fence with the edge overhanging the cutterhead.
Mark the board at the overhang edge of the outfeed table.
6.
Rotate the cutterhead until a knife' s edge is at the top-most point.
7.
Adjust the height of the knife until it' s lower than the outfeed table, then
raise it until it touches the board.

Turn the jack screws (Fig. 11-2) clockwise to lower the knife and
counterclockwise to raise the knife.
8.
Move the board to the outside table edge and align the board mark with
the overhang edge.
9.
Adjust the knife height until this end is touching the board.
10. Repeat steps 4 to 8 with each knife.
11.
Fine-tune the height of each knife by placing the board against the fence
and align the board' s mark with the overhang edge.
12. Rotate the cutterhead so it grabs the board and drags if forward. Stop
turning when the board is no longer being dragged.
13. Mark the board again at the outfeed table' s overhang edge.
14. Move the board back to your first mark and repeat with the next knife.

A correctly tuned knife will release the board when the second mark
lines up with the outfeed table edge.

You'll need to raise the knife if the mark failed to reach the edge,

You'll need to lower the knife if the mark moved past the edge.
15. Move the board to the outside table edge and align the board mark with
the overhang edge. Repeat steps 12 to 14 with each knife.
16. Remove the brace board to allow the cutterhead guard to swing back over
the cutterhead once the fine-tuning is complete.
CARBON BRUSH MAINTENANCE
The carbon brushes may require maintenance when the tool' s motor
performance decreases or stops working completely.
1.
Remove the jointer' s bottom cover and remove the motor,

Remove the brush cap from the brush holder on each side of the motor
housing.
