Operations
Playback with Deck | or II
Set the TIMER switch to OUT.
Press the POWER switch to ON.
Set the AUTO REVERSE switch to the
desired tape travel direction.
Load a pre-recorded cassette.
Select
the
NR
system
with
the
NR
SYSTEM switch.
Press the < or > button.
Adjust the volume with the amplifier's
control.
Continuous Playback
=
1. Load pre-recorded
cassettes in decks |
and Il.
2. Set the necessary switches, except the
or
> button, referring to "Playback
with Deck | or II'.
3. Set the AUTO REVERSE switch to the
C>position.
4. Press the < or > button of deck | to
start continuous playback.
5. When the playback of deck | finishes,
deck || playback begins in the forward
direction automatically.
6. After playback of the reverse side of the
tape in deck II finishes, playback starts
in deck | in its forward direction.
7. The above operations will be repeated
continuously 5 times from deck | to II
and vice versa.
8. To clear the continuous play mode, press
the STOP button.

Continuous playback can be started from

second
deck will start playback

forward direction.
To Select a Desired Tune While
aDeck
is Playing

While one
deck is in the playback mode
(whether it is in the continuous or single
playback
mode), you can select the next
tune to be played from a tape loaded in the
other deck, in the following way:
1. Eject the tape in deck | and replace with
the required tape.
2. Using the CPS, CDS or PGM function
(refer to pages 7 — 9 for details), search
for the desired tune, and set the deck
to the play-pause mode at the beginning
of the selected tune.
3. Press the PAUSE button of deck | to
release the play-pause mode. Playback
of deck | starts and deck I! automatical-
ly stops.
Note:
en this case, while the searching operation
is engaged for deck | (or deck II), Blank
Scan does not function on the other deck.
Recording with Deck 1 or II
Recording from a stereo system:
1, Set the TIMER switch to OUT.
2. Press the POWER switch to ON.
3. When
recording
onto
both
sides
of
tape, set the AUTO REVERSE switch to
either the —
or c>position.
4. Load a recordable cassette.
5. Select
the NR
system with the NR
SYSTEM switch as required.
6. Press the PAUSE button (indicator lights),
then the RECORD
button
(indicator
lights
and
tape
direction
indicator
changes
to
constant
lighting).
This
allows you to adjust the recording level
without recording on the tape. Pressing
the <
or >» button changes the tape
direction without the tape moving.
7. Adjust the REC LEVEL controls so that
the loudest sound to be recorded just
makes
the meters
briefly reach their
reference readings for the type of tape
used (NORM, CrO, or METAL).
8. Press the PAUSE button again to start
recording.
Notes:
To
temporarily stop recording, press the
PAUSE button. To restart recording, press
it again.
eWhen
recording on only one side of the
tape, set the AUTO REVERSE switch to
== (single way) position.
eThe RECORD
buttons on deck | and II
can be activated independently. Therefore,
recording
can
be
done
on
two
tapes
simultaneously, in parallel. In this case set
the AUTO REVERSE switch to —— (single
way) or =— (reverse) position.

For various search features such as PGM,
CDS, CPS, and INTRO CHECK to function
properly, a blank space of about 4 seconds
(or more) is required between tunes.

Operation

a 4-second blank — (during recording)
Press the REC MUTE button during re-
cording. The tape movement continues,
and a blank space of about 4 seconds
is recorded
(the
RECORD
indicator
blinks).
The deck then switches automatically
to
the record-pause
mode
(both
the
RECORD and PAUSE indicators light).
To begin recording the next tune, press
the PAUSE
button (the PAUSE. indi-
cator goes off).
2. Automatic
Spacing Operation — for a
4-second blank — (during record-pause)
During the record-pause mode, pressing
the REC MUTE button causes the RE-
CORD
indicator to blink to show the
record-muting stand-by mode. As soon
as the PAUSE button is pressed, the tape
runs and the above-mentioned automatic
spacing operation will be initiated.
3. Fora Blank of More Than 4 Seconds
During recording, keep the REC MUTE
button pressed for a longer blank period.
Release the button to enter the record-
pause mode. To begin recording, press
the PAUSE button.
4. Fora Blank of Less Than 4 Seconds
After pressing the REC MUTE button
during
recording,
press
the
PAUSE
button. Or press the REC MUTE button
again
to
resume
recording
without
stopping the tape.
INTRO CHECK Facility
This facility makes searching for a specific
tune much easiet by continuously detect-
ing the beginning of each tune.
1. Press the INTRO CHECK button.
2. The deck will fast-wind to the beginning
of a tune, play the first 15 seconds (ap-
prox.), and fast-wind to the beginning of
the next tune, from which
point the
cycle starts again.
3. To cancel the intro check function, press
the STOP button.
