- Regularly check the condition of blades. Make sure they are sharpened enough, there is no crack, etc.
- Use only blades in good condition. Never use worn or damaged blades: replace them.
- Only use blades corresponding to the characteristics of the machine (see Chap.2).
9.1.1 Changing the blades (Fig 31)
- Raise or remove the blade guard (1).
- Lower the infeed table (4) as far as possible.
- Carefully turn the cutterhead by hand to make the blade clamp and the blade accessible.
- Loosen the 4 Allen screws (33) and remove the blade clamp (34) (wear gloves).
- Gently remove the blade (35) (wear gloves).
- Carefully clean the blade clamp and the cutterhead; the clamping surfaces must be perfectly clean to ensure
effective clamping.
Warning! Do not use any cleaning agent that could damage the cutterhead and the blade clamps.
- Place the new blade on the cutterhead: both screw heads (36) should fit with the rectangle slots of the blade.
Warning! Be careful to the direction of rotation of the cutterhead when repositioning the blade. Refer to the
arrow on the machine (Fig 1).
- Place the blade clamp (34) on the blade and tighten the 4 screws (33), starting from the center towards the ends.
Do not tighten the screws fully; final tightening will be done after blades adjustment.
- Proceed in the same way for the second blade.
9.1.2 Adjusting the blades (Fig 31 & 32)
- Carefully turn the cutterhead by hand so that one of the blades (35) is under the output table (13).
- Place a metal ruler flat on the output table (13) and over the cutterhead at one extremity of the blade.
- Manually turn the cutterhead so that the blade (35) goes under the infeed table (4).
- The adjustment is correct if the ruler is moved forward 3 to 5 mm by the cutterhead during the rotation.
- Distance less than 3 mm: the blade (35) is too low, it must be raised by loosening the screw (36).
- Distance more than 5 mm: the blade (35) is too high, it must be lowered by tightening the screw (36).
- Repeat the operation at the other extremity of the blade.
- Once the adjustment is done, definitively tighten the 4 screws (33) starting from the center towards the ends.
Warning! Do not force excessively on the screws when tightening, as this may distort the blade clamp or
damage the screws. Tightening torque 8.5 N m.
- Proceed in the same way for the second blade.
- Mount the blade guard (1).
9.2 Changing the carbon brushes (Fig 17)
Tool required: 1xSlotted screwdriver
The Motor uses carbon brushes which are consumable parts. When they become worn to or near the "wear limit",
it could result in motor trouble. Carbon brush life depends on amount of load on motor. Regularly inspect brushes
after 50 hours of use.
When you have to replacement the carbon brushes by yourself, please following the order:
- Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time.
- Use only identical carbon brushes.
- Turn the machine over and remove the bottom cover (193) (see exploded view).
- Loosen and remove the two brush caps (37) on either side of the motor cover.
- Carefully remove the carbon brushes.
- Replace the brushes if the carbon is worn, (re)install the brushes and tighten the two brush caps (37).
- Put back and tighten the bottom cover (193)
9.3 Drive belt
- The drive belt provides the connection between the motor and the cutterhead.
- It must periodically be checked.
- Contact your authorized service center to change the drive belt.
9.4 Cleaning and maintenance
9.4.1 Cleaning
- Keep the machine clean, free of resin and rust.
- Check the area to make sure it is clear of any misplaced tools, lumber, cleaning supplies, etc. that could hamper
the safe operation of the machine.
