MAINTENANCE AND CARE
- Always keep the welder clean. Welders must be kept free of dust in order to ensure that the
cooling system can operate. If you work in a very dusty environment the welder should be
cleaned monthly with compressed air.
- Protect the welder from metallic dust.
- Store the welder in a dry room. Ensure that no unauthorised persons or children have
access to the welder.
- Ensure that the welding cable, the electrode holders and the ground clamp are in good
condition.
- Cables and other current conducting parts of the welder which are worn out or damaged
are dangerous and can impair the performance of the machine.
- Repairs may only be carried out at an authorised workshop or by a qualified electrician.
- The machine must be disconnected from the mains before any type of repair or maintenance
is carried out.
Wire feed
- Regularly clean the wire feed roll assembly and change any damaged or worn parts.
- Clean the cable assembly steel core using compressed air.
- Do not overtighten the tension spring on the pressure roller. This causes the wire to wear much
faster than normal. The dust caused by this can rest in the feed assembly and cause poor wire
feed leading to a poor finish on the workpiece.
Cable assembly
- Do not allow the cable assembly cover to become damaged.
- Do not pull the cable assembly over sharp objects or corners.
- Do not drive over the cable assembly.
- Clean the cable assembly regularly.
- The contact tip and torch nozzle are wearing parts.
- The contact tip should be regularly checked / changed as it is the source of heat and becomes
worn due to the friction caused by the welding wire.
- Welding spatter can form on the torch nozzle and should be regularly removed.
- Always clean the welder thoroughly after overhead welding.
- Use nozzle spray or grease before and after welding to prevent a build up of welding spatter.
Arc Welder
- Welders must be kept free of dust in order to ensure that the cooling system can operate. If
you work in a very dusty environment the welder should be cleaned monthly with compressed
air.
- Protect the welder from metallic dust.
In the unlikely event of a fault, do not send the machine to us without speaking to us
beforehand. A short telephone call and a short description of the fault is usually enough
to identify the cause of the problem. In most cases problems can be resolved with a correct
replacement part, which we will send to you as quickly as possible.
This prevents unnecessary costs for all parties involved.
You can find our service contact details on the back of the instruction manual.
