and place it on the appropriate number. Adjust the center
spine tab to create a smooth spine curve.
Note: There is no one correct spine shape. The garment may not
lay flat once the spine has been set. This is to be expected when
dealing with more extreme spine angles. If there is a large diffe-
rence between the two circumferences, the spine may not reach
both the bottom and top edges of the body piece. In this case, cen-
ter the spine.
When dealing with more extreme spine angles, excess material
sticking out beyond the top of the spine piece can be trimmed.
Step 4: With the spine in place, fold over the spine bands
exposing the body piece. Cut the excess material from the
body piece leaving approximately 5 cm of overlap. Be sure
not to cut any other part of the garment.
Note: If desired, attach the separate hook tab stays along the
spine for additional adhesion.
Tip: You may also trace the spine to easily reattach it in its ori-
ginal position in the unlikely event of the spine becoming deta-
ched.
Step 5: If the lower leg component is too long for the patient,
it can be trimmed by 3 cm. Trim along the indicated cut line
on the black side of the material. Trim both the body and the
spine portion.
Donning instructions
Step 1: If the foot or toes require any bandaging, apply prior
to donning the undersleeve and legging.
Step 2: Slide the enclosed circaid undersleeve or undersock
onto the leg up to the knee (for lower leggings) or to the
groin (for upper leg and whole leg).
The undersleeve may be trimmed in length if desired.
If a knee and/or upper leg component will be applied it is not
recommended to trim the undersleeve until these
components have been fitted over the undersleeve to
determine the excess length.
Step 3: Align the garment just above the ankle bone and
below the knee crease. The black side of the material should
face the skin.
Unroll the top two bands and loosely secure them to the
outside of the garment to anchor it in place. This enables you
to easily raise or lower the garment for correct positioning.
Step 4: Unroll the bottom two bands and secure the bottom
most band to the outside of the garment to a firm and
comfortable compression level.
Step 5: While holding the second band, detach the next band.
Secure the second band and continue this process with the
other bands, going up the leg.
Ensure that the bands are placed in an alternating order.
Step 6: Once all bands are secured, inspect the garment for
any gaps or creases. Adjust the bands as necessary.
If parts of the leg require additional support or a gap exists,
use the provided shelf strap as needed.
Note: If no reduction kit knee component or upper leg compo-

nent are being worn, you may fold the top and bottom part of
the circaid undersleeve over the top and bottom edge of the
circaid compression garment.
Step 7: Apply an appropriate foot compression garment as
needed. If using another circaid garment, please refer to the
specific product instructions included in its packaging.
Doffing instructions
Detach all bands of the legging starting with the top band.
Fold each band onto itself to keep the hook and loop tabs
lint-free.
Remove the legging and then remove the circaid undersleeve
or sock.
Using the Built-In-Tension System (BTS)
Note: Bands should be pulled to a firm but comfortable tension
to provide therapeutic compression within the tolerance level
of the patient.
Step 1: Starting with the bottom band, line up the black
triangle on the card with one of the BTS lines on the bottom
band.
Step 2: Note where the second BTS line lines up with the
card´s compression ranges.
Step 3: If the BTS line on the garment either falls short or
goes beyond the desired compression range, readjust the
band as necessary so that the second BTS line on the
garment is aligned with the desired compression range.
Completely loosen the band before reapplying it if too much
tension has been applied.
Note: Record tension setting for each set of markings so the
patient can easily repeat the process and ensure it is donned to
the same or higher tension.
Step 4: Repeat the steps 1 - 3 for each band going up the leg.
It is not required to have all bands set to the same tension
level. If more than one level of tension is appropriate for
treatment, use the BTS card to identify and record the
appropriate tensions levels.
Bands may need adjusting throughout the day to maintain
the desired compression range as edema is reduced.
circaid reduction kit shelf strap
Material composition
55% Nylon
38% Polyurethane
4% Polyethylene
3% Elastane
Donning the circaid reduction kit shelf strap:
Step 1: Apply the appropriate circaid compression system as
directed.
Step 2: If using the reduction kit shelf strap, trim the strap to
the desired lengths or keep as one long band, and secure
hook tabs to the strap ends.
Step 3: If there is an overhang of oedematous skin and
additional support or coverage is desired, use the shelf strap
