Check of refrigerant
charge
• Remove the compressor access side
panel. The following check should be
made by a trained refrigeration technician.
• Cooling only unit.
Take the temperature at the points
indicated:
- Te (evaporation) with dual scale gauge
- Ta (suction) with contact thermometer
• Heat pump unit.
Take the temperature at the points
(cooling cycle or heating cycle):
- Te (evaporation) with dual scale gauge
- Tc (condensation) with dual scale gauge
- Ta (suction) with contact thermometer
- Tl (liquid) with contact thermometer
• Depending on the season (summer or winter)
verify that:
- Cooling: superheat (Ta – Te) should
correspond to values shown in Table X
± 2°C.
- Heating: subcooling (Tc – Tl) should be
between 5 and 10°C.
When superheat and subcooling values
are not within the above tolerances, check
the following points:
• If superheat is below the values indicated
in Table X, the refrigerant charge is too
high or the airflow to the unit operating as
an evaporator is inadequate, vice versa if
the superheat is above the indicated values,
the refrigerant charge is too low or the
expansion device is obstructed.

• If subcooling is above 10 C, the
refrigerant charge is too high. If subcooling
°
is below 5 C, the refrigerant charge is too
low or the airflow of the unit operating as a
condenser is inadequate.
• When the air temperature entering the
condenser is known, you can determine
the correct superheat you need at the
compressor inlet. Wait about five minutes
after adding or removing refrigerant; if
room conditions and return-air conditions
change while you are charging, recheck
all readings. Add refrigerant to lower the
superheat, and remove refrigerant to rise
the superheat.

• Smontare il pannello di accesso lato
compressore ed un esperto frigorista
eseguirà i seguenti controlli.
• Unità solo raffrescamento.
Misurare la temperatura nei punti indicati:
- Te (evaporazione) manometro
- Ta (gas aspirato) termometro a contatto
• Unità a pompa di calore.
Misurare la temperatura nei punti indicati
(ciclo raffrescamento oppure ciclo
riscaldamento):
- Te (evaporazione) manometro
- Tc (condensazione) manometro
- Ta (gas aspirato) termometro a contatto
- Tl (liquido) termometro a contatto
• A seconda della stagione, estiva o invernale,
verificare che:
- Raffrescamento: il surriscaldamento
(Ta – Te) corrisponda a quanto indicato
in Tabella. X ± 2 ° C.
- Riscaldamento: il sottoraffreddamento
(Tc – Tl) sia compreso tra 5 e 10 ° C.
Nel caso in cui i valori di surriscaldamento
e sottoraffreddamento non siano nei limiti
sopra riportati, controllare quanto segue:
• Se il surriscaldamento è inferiore a quanto
indicato in Tabella X, la carica di freon è
eccessiva o la portata d'aria nell'unità
funzionante come evaporatore è insufficiente,
viceversa se il surriscaldamento è superiore la
carica di freon è insufficiente o il dispositivo di
laminazione è ostruito.
• Se il sottoraffreddamento è > 10
freon è eccessiva. Se il sottoraffreddamento

è < 5 C la carica di freon è insufficiente
oppure la portata dell'aria nell'unità
funzionante come condensatore è
insufficiente.
• Conoscendo la temperatura d'entrata aria al
condensatore è possibile determinare il
corretto valore di surriscaldamento desiderato
all'ingresso del compressore. Attendere circa
5 minuti dopo l'aggiunta o la rimozione del
refrigerante; se le condizioni della stanza e le
condizioni dell'aria in aspirazione variano
mentre viene eseguita la carica, riverificare
tutte le letture.
