8. Setup

a) Inserting the batteries before first use
• To insert the batteries, remove the battery compartment cover on the back/bottom of the
device. Push the release lever back and remove the battery compartment cover.
• Insert two AAA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment, making sure that they
are inserted in the correct polarity (observe the + and - markings).
• After inserting the batteries, carefully replace the battery compartment cover. Lock the re-
lease lever in place.
b) Replacing the batteries
• Replace the batteries when the battery symbol (d) flashes on the display or as soon as the
device can no longer be switched on. Follow the instructions in section "a) Inserting the
batteries before first use".
• Before inserting the new batteries, remove the used batteries and dispose of them properly.
Always replace both batteries at the same time and replace them with two new batteries
of the same size (2x 1.5 V, type AAA), make, type and age. Ensure that the batteries are
inserted in the correct polarity.
c) Switching the device on and off
• Press the red DIST button (3) to switch on the laser rangefinder. Press the button again to
switch on the laser. The device will beep to indicate that the laser is switched on. The display
backlight will switch on.
Exercise caution when the laser is switched on and do not point the laser at the eyes
of people or animals or at reflective surfaces.
• To switch off the device, press and hold the OFF/C button (1) for approx. 2 seconds. The
device will turn off and the display backlight will switch off. The device will specially beep one
time to confirm that it has been switched off.
• The laser and the display backlight will switch off after 30 seconds of inactivity. The energy-
saving function automatically switches the device off after 3 minutes when it is not in use.
