Adjustment of mechanical disc brakes
The brake pads exert pressure on a disc fixed in the wheel hub. The strength of the pressure is
regulated by a brake lever with cable pull. Do not operate the brake lever when the wheel is removed
from the frame or fork.
To align the automatic disc brake bracket, unscrew the mounting screw from the brake bracket holder.
Brake with the appropriate brake lever (the brake bracket is correctly positioned) and keep the brake
lever in this position by tightening the mounting screws of the mount.
Check that the inner lining (in the wheel) is 0.2 - 0.4 mm away from the disc. If this is not the case,
tighten the screw to position the pad until there is a distance of 0.2 - 0.4 mm between the pad and the
disc.
To adjust the outer pad (on the outside of the wheel), it is enough to change the pressure on the brake
cable to achieve a distance of 0.2 - 0.4 mm at the level of the bracket or brake lever.
It is recommended never to pour oil or other lubricants on the windshield or pads (e.g. when servicing
the chain or derailleur). If this happens, the pads or disc must be degreased or replaced.
Check the alignment of the pads by turning the wheel to use the bike on the road.
Brake discs: The bike is equipped with brake discs with a diameter of 160 mm.
- A system of nut and lock nut at the level of the brake lever or bracket allows the adjustment of the
cable pressure and therefore the braking force, which varies over time according to the wear of the
brake pads.
- The brake pads are standard, replace them when the pad no longer has friction components.
