If the canopy is not pre-infl ated enough at this point there is a possi-
bility that a wingtip will cravat. If this happens it is important to hold
the SIGMA 7 on course (going straight) with careful braking, whi-
le clearing the cravat by pulling the orange stabilo line down. Clea-
ring a cravat can be also done by 'pumping'. The appropriate brake
should be applied to 75% brake travel within two seconds, and then
released immediately.
Tip: Basically you should release both brakes completely in
all out-of-control fl ight situations.
Deep stall
The SIGMA 7 has not been seen to go into stable deep stall by its-
elf. The glider can, however, be brought into deep stall by means of
the brakes, and kept there. (See also section «Flying with a wet pa-
raglider».)

Landing

Always make a proper landing circuit with a defi ned fi nal approach.
As the ground approaches progressively increase brake to level the
fl ight path, before continuing to full brake to completely arrest the for-
ward speed.

Caution: Steep turn reversals lead to strong swinging of the
pilot, and should not be done near the ground.
Caution: Braking will reduce your speed and increase your
sink, but it will certainly seriously restrict your ability to ma-
noeuvre.
Caution: In strongly braked fl ight an outside brake remains
very effective. Turns should therefore be made by releasing
the outside brake.
Caution: Getting below minimum speed leads to stalling: this
should unquestionably be avoided when top landing, and on
fi nal approach.
Caution: Never let your glider fall to the ground on its leading
edge. The overpressure so caused inside the wing can rip
the cell walls and damage the leading edge.

Flying with a wet paraglider (deep stall danger)

Flying with a wet glider creates the danger of deep stall. Unintended
deep stall is often the result of a combination of factors. The weight of
the wet canopy goes up, and this increased weight increases the
