Read through the instructions before you begin to work.
Check that all parts are included in the package.
Items in illustrations in the instructions may differ from
the model being worked on. The illustrations are used
for different instructions and may therefore vary between
engine models. The essential information is correct.
This kit contains:
Designation
Thermal gasket injector

Installation instructions
NOTICE! Coolant hoses are not included in this kit. Non-
Volvo hoses are not allowed.
Installing dosage valve
Install the dosage valve (2) in the exhaust pipe using the
hexagon socket screws (1) (Fig. 3).
Installing temperature sensor
NOTICE! Dropping the sensor might damage the function
of the sensor. The sensor and cable are resistant to gaso-
line, lubricant, engine oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, battery
fluid and urea solution.
1. Install the temperature sensor (4) in the exhaust pipe.
Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 lbf. ft) (Fig. 3).
2. Secure the cable with cable ties to avoid abrasion.
NOTICE! Avoid bending the cable 90° or more at the rear
of the sensor.
Installing NOx sensor
1. Install the NOx control unit (7) using flange screws (6)
and flange nuts (5) (Fig. 4.)
2. Replace one of the sensor plugs on the muffler with the
NOx sensor. Choose the position that suits you particu-
lar installation. To prevent wires from twisting, hold the
sensor by hand while tightening it to 50 Nm (37 lbf. ft).
Maximum allowed twisting angle of cable is 180°.
3. Connect the sensor cable to the control unit.
4. Secure the cable 100 mm (3.94") from the control unit.
The NOx sensor is CE marked according to the EU Direc-
tive 94/9/EG.
Engine return connectors
1. Install the gaskets (8) and the hose nipples (9) on the
engine return connections. Connect the hoses (Fig. 5).
2. Install the connectors on the dosage valve and connect
the hose (A). IMPORTANT! Install a restrictor in the hose.

If the procedure according to the Installation Manual and
national regulations is not followed, this may result in a
fine or other penalty.
After performed installation, check that the decal on the
tank is visible.
Refer to the Installation Manual for other connections and
installations.
