water supply can be interrupted for service purposes.
Installation on site should be executed in at least DN 10. If the feed is too small, there is a risk

of interrupted operation due to insufficient water pressure or insufficient flow rate, e.g. when
flushing the reverse osmosis membranes.
Installation of a pressure reducer can reduce the flow.

5 Installation and assembly
5.1
Preconditions for installation
A location that allows easy connection to the water supply should be selected for the device.

There should be a waste water connection and a separate electricity supply (220-240 V, 50-

60 Hz) close by.
The device must be connected to a grounded plug socket. The electricity supply and

required feed water pressure must be guaranteed at all times.
The electromagnetic interference (voltage peaks, high-frequency electro-magnetic fields,

inter ference and voltage fluctuations...) due to surrounding electrical installations must not
exceed the maximum values stated in the standard EN 61000-6-4.
I
CAUTION!
Quality of the piping network: Only corrosionresistant materials may be used in the permeate area.
f
Read the Technical Data (Chapter 2) and Operating/Safety Information (chapter 4) before installation.
f
5.2 Unpacking the RO device
Remove your device from the packaging and check the delivery for completeness and any trans-
port damage.
I
CAUTION!
Defective parts must be replaced immediately.
f
Work tidily.
f
5.3
Hydraulic installation
I
CAUTION!
Only flexible hoses in accordance with DVGW W 543 may be used to connect the device.
f
When assembling with accessories (hoses, connections sets), please note the installation dimensions and bending radii.
f
The BWT bestaqua 16 ROC shall be installed and operated with assembled magnetic base

plates.
The hoses of the device shall be assembled without tension.

Check that the water connections have been connected in a leak-proof way.

The concentrate line shall be directed and attached to the on-site waste water connection

with an approved air-gap. The cross-section of the flexible hoses must not be narrowed. Dur-
ing assembly, ensure that the concentrate and permeate lines are connected correctly.
NOTE!
Before the RO unit can be used, we recommend checking the water pretreatment (e.g. inhouse water softening systems, central water
f
treatment by the waterworks). This measure is necessary in order to increase the efficiency and life span of your RO membrane.
Please discard the permeate produced during the first approx. 10 minutes after each new installation / initial commissioning and after
f
each membrane replacement.
Any change in the temperature of +/- 1 °C results in the permeate performance of the membranes increasing or reducing by approx. 3%.
f
Please also follow the operating instructions of the external prefilter used.
f
We generally recommend operation with softened water, which increases the life span and operational safety of the reverse osmosis
f
membranes.
