Oxidising substances
*1) The actual nominal flow may deviate slightly from the throughput shown in the table (e.g. in the case of larger permeate transport heights) due to fluc-
tuations in the inlet water quality, flow pressure, water temperature and permeate back pressure.
*2) In general, the manufacturer recommends the use of feed water pre-treatment.
*3) The factory setting for the WCF of the RO is approx. 50%.
3 Use and function
3.1
Proper use
The BWT bestaqua 16 ROC is a reverse osmosis. The device
is used to treat water that meets the statutory requirements for drinking water quality.
filters particles out of the water.
protects against bacteria and other organic substances.
Any other use is considered improper.
3.2 Structure and function of the BWT bestaqua 16 ROC
The semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane separates the raw water, which is supplied
under high pressure (approx. 8 bar), into desalinated purified water (permeate) and salty waste
water (concentrate). The percentage ratio between the permeate produced and the amount of
raw water used is called the WCF yield (%). The RO device is factory-configured for a WCF of
approximately 50%.
At the filter head, the amount of added raw water can be determined if a higher conductivity is
required.
The water passes through the following step:
4
1
Desalination: The water flows through the RO membrane.
4 Operating and safety information
Despite all safety precautions, any product retains a residual risk, especially when used improp-
erly. Every technical device requires regular maintenance in order to functional correctly.
Adherence to all safety information and instructions for action is a basic requirement for safe
working. The local accident prevention and general safety provisions valid at the place of use of
the device also apply. Diagrams in these instructions are intended to aid understanding and may
deviate from the actual design of the device. No claims can be derived from them.
I
WARNING!
The device is not to be operated with feedwater that is microbially unsafe or of unknown quality.
f
Any deviation from proper use, such as desalination of feedwater of impermissible quality (nondrinking water), may result in irreversible
f
damage to health or property (e.g. microbial contamination of the RO device).
Disconnect the filter system from the water and electrical supply before maintenance work on the drinking water system. Flush the
f
water pipe before the filter system is reconnected.
The power supply to the device and the end devices must be disconnected before maintenance (unplug).
f
I
CAUTION!
Please note the countryspecific installation provisions (e.g. DIN 1988, EN 1717), general hygiene conditions and technical data for the pro
f
tection of drinking water.
Improper installation of the RO can cause damage to the device.
f
The feed water must not exceed the limit values stated in the technical data nor the lime solubility threshold.
f
Only cold water that meets the statutory requirements of drinking water quality and the quality requirements in Chapter 2 may be fed
f
into the device.
Install a check valve upstream of the RO device.
f
Only hoses that adhere to DVGW W 543 may be used to connect the device.
f
If the product has been stored at under 0°C, leave the unpacked product at the ambient temperature of the installation location for at
f
least 24 hours before commissioning.
The device must not be installed close to heat sources or naked flames.
