Aborted Welding

In case of errors of welding, the welding process is aborted, an error
message is displayed in clear on the screen, the red LED flashes, and
the audible signal buzzes intermittently. An error has to be reacted to by
pressing the STOP/RESET key.
5.9

Cooling Time

The cooling time as given in the fitting manufacturer's instructions has
to be respected. If the bar code provided by the fitting manufacturer
contains information about the cooling time, it will be displayed on the
screen at the end of the welding process and will be counted down to
zero. The cooling time countdown can be confirmed and canceled at any
time by pressing the STOP/RESET key. However, note that during that
time no external forces must be applied to the pipe fitting joint which is
still warm. No cooling time is displayed if the fitting code does not contain
any information about cooling.

5.10 Returning to the Start of Data Input

After welding is finished, disconnecting the welded fitting from the unit
or pressing the STOP/RESET key will reset the unit back to the start of
data input.

5.11 Alphanumeric Input Routine

A number of data values which the user can customize to his situation in
the free data input or which can be pre-set in the set-up menu, support
both letters and numbers. Such alphanumeric values can be entered with
minimum effort on the keypad on the front of the unit.
Whenever an alphanumeric value is possible, the effective function of
each key on the keypad ist determined in combination with the ò and
ñ arrow keys:
When a key on the keypad is pressed alone, it will be equivalent to
the black character on that key (e.g., the value "1" when pressing
the 1 / A / B key).
When a key on the keypad is pressed while the ñ arrow key is being
held down, it will be equivalent to the blue character on that key
(e.g., the value "A" when pressing the 1 / A / B key); accordingly, a
blue up arrow is shown on the ñ arrow key.
When a key on the keypad is pressed while the ò arrow key is being
held down, it will be equivalent to the red character on that key (e.g.,
the value "B" when pressing the 1 / A / B key); accordingly, a red
down arrow is shown on the ò arrow key.

5.12 Entering Geo Data After Welding

After geo data were read for the location of the welded joint, using the
satellite receiver, these data can be entered into the unit. This is pos-
sible both before and after welding. To enter geo data for a given joint
before welding, this option has to be enabled in the set-up of the unit
(see sections 6.6 and 10).
In case welding is already finished, geo data can be saved to system
memory via the free data input. To do so, press the ñ arrow key to switch to
free input mode, then using the ò arrow key, select "Enter Geo Data" and
confirm your selection by pressing the START key (see also section 6.1).
You will see an overview that is similar to the one shown by Display 7.
The overview shown is the one of the last welding report currently in
system memory, and this report is identifiable by the job number on the
first line and the report and weld numbers on the last line (see section 6
for information on the data shown in this overview, and section 5.3 on
