MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Make sure to keep the power cable of the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
power tool at a safe distance from the backing
pad to further reduce the risk of electrocution.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
That will minimise the risk of damage to the
cable insulation or cutting through the cable with
the abrasive and also prevent the cable looping
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
around your hand or arm.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Unplug the mains plug immediately if the elec-
tric cable is damaged.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Do not pull the electric cable around corners,
as this might result in kinks or tears in the cable,
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
which could then cause additional damage at a
later time.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Never pull on the electric cable and only use the
actual plug to unplug the electric power tool. Do
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
not suspend the power tool by its power cable.
• Switch off the machine before replacing the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
sanding disc, polishing disc or the polishing pad.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Disconnect the machine from mains power
before replacing the backing pad.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Do not expose any part of the power tool to
caustic media (e.g. chemicals) or excessive heat
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
(above 60 °C).
• Do not attempt to make technical changes to
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the power tool.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Keep the electric power tool away from rain and
moisture.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Use only MENZER-recommended abrasives and
backing pads compliant with the intended use
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
and the power tool dimensions. All accessories
must fit the drive shaft exactly to prevent uneven
running, vibration and loss of control over the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
power tool.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Deteriorating adherence of the hook & loop
layer on the backing pad may cause accessory
parts for the backing pad (e.g. sanding discs)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
to detach and cause injuries. This may occur
specifically during non-contact operation. The
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
backing pad must therefore be replaced, once
adherence deteriorates.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Never use the device without a backing pad.
The device-typical diameter of the backing pad can
be found on the type plate.

• Only use sanding discs of the correct
size and in compliance with manufacturer
recommendations.
• Do not attempt working with used or worn and
adapted sanding discs from larger electric power
tools.
• Never use the device without a sealing collar.
• After a fall of the power tool, check the electric
power tool and the backing pad for visible
damage. Remove the backing pad for thorough
inspection.
Contact your MENZER Service workshop for
repairs of any damaged parts before use.
A broken backing pad and damaged machines
may cause injuries or negatively impact the
handling of the power tools.
• The use of damaged accessories is prohibited.
All accessories and the backing pad must be
checked and replaced as needed before every
use and after a fall or other potentially damaging
occurrence.
• Do not use accessories with a rotational speed
that does not match or is lower than the max. ro-
tational speed stated on the electric power tool.
• Only use the random orbital sander on dry
substrates. Do not use water or any liquid cool-
ing lubricants, as these could facilitate poten-
tially fatal electric shocks.
• Do not operate the machine directly next to
or very close to your body to prevent cuts or
more serious injuries. The electric power tool
must only be carried on the body when it is at a
complete standstill.
• Put down the machine only after it was
switched off and the backing pad has come to a
complete standstill to prevent hooking or recoil.
• Never put down the machine on top of its
operating lever.
• Regularly clean the ventilation slits on the ma-
chine to maintain proper cooling and to prevent
electrically conductive dust deposits, as these
pose an electrocution or short circuit hazard. Dis-
connect the machine from mains electricity and
use compressed air to clean the ventilation slits.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Switch off the power tool immediately if it
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
produces unusual noises or if you feel unusual
vibration; make sure to contact MENZER Service
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
immediately.
• Machine operation may generate hazardous/
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
toxic dusts (e.g. when sanding specific types
of wood or mineral substances). Inhaling or
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
skin contact with these types of dust may be
hazardous for the machine operator and any
other person within the work area.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Take note of the safety requirements applicable
in your country.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Connect the power tool to an appropriate dust
extraction system.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• The following safety measures must be ad-
hered to when sanding mixed dusts with metal
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
content (e.g. lacquer processing in the automo-
tive sector). The same applies if sanding in a
moist environment is unavoidable:
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
– Upstream integration of a fault current (FI,
PRCD) circuit breaker.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
– Connection of an appropriate dust extractor to
the machine.
– Regular use of compressed air to clean the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
motor
housing interior of dust deposits.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Take extra care when working in corners, along
sharp edges, etc. (see also chapter 4.4)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Prevent sharp impacts and entanglements of
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the accessory parts on the workpiece. (see also
chapter 4.4)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Wear a P2 respiratory mask to protect your
health.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Always wear protective goggles to protect your
eyes while sanding.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Caution! Fire hazard! Clean oil-soaked work
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
materials (e.g. sanding pads or polishing felt
pads) with water and set them out flat to dry. Oil-
soaked work materials can spontaneously ignite.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
• Caution! Fire hazard! Avoid overheating of the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
workpiece and the sander. Always empty the
dust collection container before taking a work
break. Sanding dust in the filter bag or filter of
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the dust extractor can spontaneously ignite
in unfavourable conditions. The fire hazard
increases if the sanding dust mixes with varnish
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
or polyurethane residues or other chemical
components and the workpiece heats up after an
extended work session.
• Keep the grips and grip areas dry, clean and
free from oil or grease.
4.3 Working environment
• Ensure that there are no other persons at your
workplace or that there is a sufficient safety dis-
tance between you and the next person.
• Any nails, bolts or other metal objects must be
removed from or fully countersunk into the work
surface to prevent damage to the backing pad.
This measure will help prevent power tool dam-
age, jamming and recoil.
• Attach an appropriate industrial dust extractor
to reduce the dust load.
• Working with electric power tools can negatively
impact your hearing. Wear hearing protection!
• Sanding dust and flying fragments from the
abrasive or the workpiece are a hazard for your
eyesight. Wear protective goggles!
• Sanding dust poses a hazard to airways and
lungs. Wear a protective mask (e.g. a P2 respira-
tory mask)!
• Keep your hands, hair, feet and loose-fitting
clothing away from the backing pad and/or ad-
ditionally protect these.
• Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces
like radiators or pipes, cookers and refrigerators.
• Wear non-skid work boots.
• Ensure secure footing (good ground contact and
balance) and avoid working too far overhead, as
you might lose your balance.
• Do not operate the power tool in the immedi-
ate vicinity of flammable materials, as they could
ignite from flying sparks.
• Read the data sheets provided by the material
manufacturers of the workpieces you wish to
sand.
