5.4 Settings and handling (see page *1*)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
a. Switch on the extraction unit first and then
switch on the sander. Hold the machine securely
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
and press the On/Off switch. Actuate the operat-
ing level to start sanding. Anticipate a rotational
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
movement on activation.
b. Hold the random orbital sander with both
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
hands at the designated insulated grip areas
(see Chapter 5.2 Operating elements and main
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
components).
c. Adjust the rotational speed via the speed
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
controls [–] and [+] in 1,000 [rpm] increments from
4,000 [rpm] to 10,000 [rpm]. Higher speeds allow
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
more abrasion, while lower speeds ensure more
control over the sanding process.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Sanding performance, quantity and quality
depend largely on the correct choice of
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
abrasive.
d. Begin the sanding process by gently lowering
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the power tool onto the substrate.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Caution! Secure the workpiece in place to
prevent its movement during sanding.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Press down onto the substrate only as much
as needed to have the abrasive in full
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
contact with the surface. Pressing down with too
much force can result in spiral-shaped scratch
patterns on the substrate and may damage the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
tool long-term. We recommend using a circular,
overlapping forward motion of the sanding head
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
across the work area. The sander should remain in
constant motion until the desired refinement is
achieved, as prolonged sanding in place will result
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
in abrasion marks.
Too much pressure will result in an overloading of
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the machine and overheating of the sanding disc
and backing pad, leading to premature wear.
The sanding quality and performance depends
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
largely on the correct choice of abrasive.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
e. Release the operating lever to deactivate the
sander. The backing pad with the abrasive will
slow down to a standstill. Switch off the sander by
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
pressing the On/Off switch. Make sure that the
backing pad has come to a complete standstill
before putting down the machine.

Caution! The mains plug must be
disconnected from the mains
socket and must not be plugged into the
mains socket for all attachment and
detachment works described in these
operating instructions! Wait until the backing
pad has come to a complete standstill!
6. Maintenance and service
6.1 General information
The mains plug must be disconnected from the
mains socket before carrying out any work on the
power tool!
Do not use water or any liquid cleaning agents!
All housing parts and operating elements must be
cleaned with dry, clean compressed air regularly!
Make sure that the ventilation slits in the housing
are free and clean at all times!
Regularly clean the extraction zone underneath
the backing pad and the opening to the extractor
guide around the sanding disc with compressed
air, a fine brush or a dry cloth. Check the con-
nection cable, mains plug and other power tool
components regularly for visual damage and have
them replaced by your MENZER Service workshop
as needed!
All repairs on the power tool and any works that
entail opening any of the device components must
be carried out by MENZER Service!
6.2 Replacing the abrasive (see page *2* –
Figures 1a.–1c.)
Detach the worn abrasive from the backing pad
and press on the new abrasive centrically in the
same position. The hook & loop layer will hold it
in place.
Ensure proper alignment of the extraction open-
ings and select a grit size appropriate for the
intended use (please read chapter 5.3 Commis-
sioning).
Never use the power tool without an
attached abrasive. Sanding without an
abrasive would destroy the backing pad.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
6.3 Replacing the backing pad
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
(see page *2* – Figures 2a.–2c.)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Only use OEM backing pads! To replace the back-
ing pad, insert the spanner between the backing
pad and the sealing collar to hold the drive shaft in
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
place. Now you can rotate the backing pad in the
machine's rotation direction to remove it from the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
drive shaft.
Place the new backing pad with distance ring onto
the drive shaft and rotate it onto the shaft against
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the rotational direction of the machine to the stop
and tighten it in place.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Don't forget to remove the spanner!
Caution! Never operate the device without
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
the backing pad. Only the overall system is
balanced, coordinated with one another.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Only use backing pads of the correct device-typical
diameter – the information provided on the type
plate must be followed.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
6.4 Replacing the sealing collar
(see page *3* – Figures 3a.–3d.)
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
You need to remove the backing pad in accord-
ance with the instructions provided in Chapter 6.3
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
before you can replace the sealing collar. You can
then pull the worn part from the motor housing
with your fingers. Mount a new sealing collar in
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
its place. Ensure the correct directionality during
assembly and place the new part flush into the
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
groove provided in the control housing. Once the
sealing collar sits evenly and flush in the groove,
you can replace the backing pad and mount it
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
in accordance with the instructions provided in
Chapter 6.3.
MENZER MENZER MENZER MENZER
Never operate the device without a sealing collar,
as this would impede the dust evacuation capacity
and contribute to increased dust generation.

7. Error handling and troubleshooting

7.1 Error codes

Error codes may be displayed on the screen of
the operating element (see page *1* – E03). These
codes are displayed in the form of repeated fast
and/or slow flashing or an error code letter, fol-
lowed by a number. Where that is the case, the
device must only be maintained or repaired by
trained professional personnel. Please contact
MENZER Service directly.
Caution! Any repairs or other works on the
device that require opening any of the
device components must only be carried out by
MENZER Service.
Other error or fault cases and their possible
causes and/or remediation options can be
found in the overview table on the next page
(7.2).
