Gas Conversion and
Pressure Checks
The conversion shall be carried out in accor-
dance with the requirements of the provincial
authorities having jurisdiction and in accor-
dance with the requirements of the CAN1-B149.1
and .2 INSTALLATION CODES.
A. Initial Preparation
1. Ensure the proper fuel and gas pressure is supplied
prior to starting the conversion process.
2. Obtain a pressure test kit that will measure the
proper gas pressure for the heater. See page 4 of
this manual or the heater's data plate for pressure
requirements.
Model L-40:
-- Low- pressure gauge capable of reading up to 35
inches W.C. or order part number 500-00764.
Model H-40:
-- Pressure gauge capable of reading a minimum of 5
PSIG, or order part number 500- 20736.
3. Position the heater's ON/OFF switch to OFF and
close the fuel supply valve to the heater.
4. Brush or blow off any dust and dirt on or in the vicin-

B. Conversion (L-40 / H-40)
-- Replace the orifice for the fuel presently used with
the orifice for the fuel being converted to. Orifices are
marked LP or NG. Install the unused orifice back into
the position on the orifice holder. See Fig. 23.

1. Using a 3/16 in. allen key, remove the allen plug from
side of the gas control valve. See Fig. 24, model
L-40 shown.
2. Thread a 1/8 in. adapter into the valve at this point.
(1/8 adapter comes with 00764)
3. Securely connect the gas gauge to the connector.
4. Unscrew the cover from the brass fuel
identification plug as shown in Fig. 24. Remove the

fuel being converted to, are directed to the gas
control valve. See Fig. 24. Thread the plug into the
gas control valve.
6. Thread the plastic cover onto the plug to prevent dirt
entry.
H-40 Only
